THOUGHT I WOULD REVIVE THIS THREAD.
After buying and using a fancy pod/ground coffee machine with a poor milk frother for under a year I decided to ditch it and go the old fashioned way with a percolator. I'm more than happy with the brews, especially the Costa Coffee, but once it's been sat beyond an hour it's yuk!
Fresh brews are fantastic, and making around 10 cups worth (actually nearer 5 traditional cups) a time for our household is worth while, but the hassle of cleaning has started to make me wounder if I should try another pod machine?
The Tassomo T65 looks a good bit of kit for sub £100 with Costa Pods
Any thoughts, and before you state, I won't be going silly with this has I'm happy with a fresh brew from the percolator., I just would like to know my options since it's been a few years since discussed

I wouldn't bother. Having tried the Tassimo pods they taste very synthetic to me. I normally suggest Espresso as the best pod machine but that's only if you like espresso or espresso based coffees. Sounds like you prefer percolated longer coffees.
Just purchased another Dolce Gusto machine last week.
Got a 'play and select' machine this time - more automated(i.e pour a cup without you having to stand over the machine watching)

Whilst I'm a strong advocate of good coffee equipment - and I won't bore you to death with the stupidly expensive espresso set-up that I have - good coffee equipment needn't be expensive.
If you like a good brewed coffee, and want something that is nice and easy to use - and clean and quick to tidy up afterwards - then get an Aeropress (£25 normally). Argos have recently started selling them IIRC.
I use one at work, with a Porlex Mini hand grinder (about another £30) - but you could use it with pre-ground coffee if you really had to.

maintenance wise I need to clean it once a month, de-scale every three months.
That's it.
Beans in one end, water in another - empty the tray & bin every week & that's about it.
I'm pulling 4 double shots a day on average.
I don't mess with the settings - got my shots how i like them & just add water & milk.

i got one of these in the end
had it, um 6 months ish now, got a limescale warning light on it now and cant get rid
but to be fair it has had some serious hammer lol

Finally gave in and got a pod machine for Xmas - Nespresso with the milk frother, brilliant for good lazy clean free coffee. Loads of flavour options but TBH most of them are too weak for me - blacks or purples are my favourites, I believe there are stronger ones too. top tip don't go for the cheaper 'Nespresso compatible' pods - I did once, the ones I got were plastic and IMO you can taste the plastic... I would go for a pod system that uses foil packaging

I imagine he was highlighting the irony of some people worrying how they're going to throw away a grand versus the picker of teh coffee who probably takes ten years to earn that grand originally. Could be wrong though, tdw often goes off on tangents , usually with one theme however.

Anyway, does anyone know a coffee machine that makes really hot, really milky and really frothy coffee with amazing aroma of coffee beans rising of it? Like the one they make in Costa Coffee.
I'm ready to invest. Not too much, though.

The brews are all cr@p bar the Costa Coffee. The Cappuccino is expensive, so I buy the Americao she it's on offer in mass and use warm milk.

Costa Coffee cappuccino is the only coffee that I find drinkable.
Ditch, I've had moka pot thingy. It gives me unrest to think that I'd have to buy the frothier separately. Two things to dust for the majority of time than just one.
Nice!
I'm looking for a 2-in-1 that you can bung everything in together and it delivers really hot, milky and frothy coffee on the tap. I may find something like that. I'm not paying a grand for it, though.

I have the Krups ea8080 and it is fantastic, it is a bean to cup version. it is nice and small as well compared to some of the other versions out there

If your only making for 1-2 just get a manual one. I have a stick you twist in between your palms. 1 min heat in the microwave + 20 secs with the stick and plenty of froth. Rinse under the tap so minimal cleaning.
