And an informative thread for other members in the future who may have a similar issue.

The standard ecu couldnt handle the mods, syvecs can

The alterations to the car have altered the position of the teeth on the cam and were outside the range of the standard ecu to read so it didnt know the correct cam position.

Syvecs is fully configuirable so I just set it up custom to the car.

Hth?

Seems you've done it the right way round, ECU first, heads/engine afterwards

So do I sue the supplier for making dodgy cams or the engine builder for selecting/fitting them ?

LOL

dunx

P.S. Simon, could I bodge the job with vernier pulleys do you think ?

P.P.S. It's not worth you trying to map it in this state...

Oh dear, sorry Dunx, wasn't aware you had a problem.

Along with AN other engine we built recently both of those sets of cams came from the same source, NEVER again. How hard can it be to machine the bloody things correctly.

And GEMs, and Simtek and Motec and blah blah. They all do it! It's just a shame at this present time that we can't change the reference points on the standard ECU.

TBH I'm not going to confirm a problem till I can FULLY rule out any silly connection problems...

The last 36 hours have been CEL-free, but I did remove check and reconnect every connector from the ecu to each cam sensor. I need to check the nearside AVCS solenoid tomorrow to be sure that isn't stuck.

Then once I'm fully sure the wiring is 100%, then if there is a problem.... It's time for a sulk !

dunx

P.S. Hi Martyn, would vernier pulleys help or shall I just sell a kidney for a Syvecs

So Simon do you think vernier pulleys would help ? Or can I delay the timing pulse with an R-C network... ?

TIA

dunx

P.S. Are you able to drop in on your way back "Down South" from "Opp North" on Friday ?
