Quite simply there are not enough hours in the day for me to answer every pm, although i always try to get back to as many people as possible.

I prefer doing quotes over the phone rather then e-mail/pm's, and it is easy enough to find my number on here. (fair enough it isn't always easy to get through)

I got advice on a accident at 11pm
I got a quote at midnight......on a Sunday

Was promised a phone call at 10am.....received it at 9.45am

All of the above was my first dealing with Gary
A month later and 2 phone calls and he insured a second car for me

Assume the man gets **** loads of pm's..........pick a phone up and make a call

Moley, out of interest what's the best time to call? If you have a quiet time that is.

Middle of the week, between 11-12 or 2-4 is normally best

Mondays and Fridays are manic.

moley tried to help me out earlier this year for a quote and despite being very helpful he couldnt quite compete with another company so unfortunately moley didnt get the business but his customer services and helpfulness were second to none..... certainly had no complaints

Cheap isn't always best.

I've always been very very happy with KM, Gary is always very helpful.

An A-Plan vs Keith Michaels thread....

We are both here to offer a service to the community, sometimes one of us can help where the other one can't. There are always going to be some scheme restrictions on both sides. But having the luxury of the access to schemes that Gary and I have is a huge benefit to Subaru owners and other performance enthusiasts.

I really appreciate the positive feedback I get on here, and it does make our job worth doing. But I have never been in a "us vs them" mind set, and I'm honest, if A-Plan as a group have no way of helping, I will always reccommend Gary.

Thanks for the continued support for both members though, and I'm sure I can speak for Gary and say that we will always go that extra mile for Scoobynet members. So keep calling!

Regards

Chris

Completely agree with Chris.

We are sometimes cheaper, and they are sometimes cheaper, but regardless of who offers the best price clients can be safe in the knowledge that they have a good policy, and a price they'll struggle to get elsewhere.

Despite what some might think, there is certainly no 'them vs us' feelings between Keith Michaels and A Plan.

I know (and it is obvious) that i can't help everyone, so if i can't help then i'd rather people use a professional company like A Plan, who are able to offer a good level of cover and very good customer service.

when I returned to the subaru fold I phoned Gary (and spoke to him on my 2nd phonecall), gave me a good quote compaired to previous insurer - adrian flux. Then phoned aplan and think it was chris sorted me out a better deal.

Having dealt with both I would use either Gary or aplan and had no real probs getting hold of gary dispite the comments to the contary.

Come renewal I will be phoning both!

No complaints about A - Plan. Tried the KM route, as so many here are happy with them, but couldn't get a response.

There are two aspects to car insurance IMO:
1) Getting quoted and insured in the first place, CS and so on.
2) When you need to make a claim.

Firms I have used in the past were ok with point 1 but terrible with point 2, so never again.

A - Plan have proved themselves on both counts. I can't comment on KM as not having got past the initial stage.

To reiterate, it is absolutely clear to me that many SNetters are very happy with KM.

I cannot fault A - Plan however, had all three scoobs insured with them at one stage, now only two. My premium has not been hiked up, this time they even threw in Protected NCB for free, as I asked for that. I didn't even need to mention SN.

I have spoken to two Lukes and one Nathan in the last year or two and they all seem to operate in exactly the same way, which is faultless.

Agree it is not a competition as such, but the two brands do seem to be the most popular choices for SNetters, so have got to be mindful of how they are perceived, how they operate, and what sort of service level they provide. It is only a good thing for us.

Asif

After calling all three he went with you guys (based on price and getting through easily).

I'm still with Gary - I owe him that after getting my Aussie girlfriend insured on my Litchfield Type 20! Good service is available from all three of the above brokers imho.

cheers,

Andy (also an insurance bloke).

Sometimes we'll take all our commission off the policy in order to keep the business.

I'm not fashionable so not joining in the bashing (or applauding) just didn't want Sky to feel left out heh.

As a matter of principle though, if I get a quote cheaper than the renewal, for the same cover I'll move. Good graces and all, always say to try again next year but I figure if they'd really wanted me to stay, they would have been cheap int he first place (we aren't talking a bit of commission by the way, were talking £50 etc)

Fair play, probably i'd do the same.
£50 certainly sounds like he took the commission off.

Same here recently changed from A Plan to KM (via Gary) the actual insurance only went down by £20 but my excess was cut bt £200 and the the level of cover was improved (i.e. adding mods but not putting up my premium).

A Plan have offered me great service for the last 7 odd years including my only accident last year (non fault) but the continually rise in my premium meant I decided to look elsewhere and Gary at KM was an obvious choice imo.

Phoned up,spoke to a guy who asked where I got their number from so mentioned scoobynet and that seems to be an instant pass to get to speak to Gary

I would have no trouble in recommending either company as both have offered great service.
