Agreed. It's the only thing that lets the product down, for me. Just make it work.

Use the UK app. I can't get a link right now but it's easy to find. Just type BBC into the App Store.

I hope he's ok, I think it's fair to say that his contribution to technology has certainly changed the way many people view phones and the way we listen to music.

I've been using Apple products for years now, yes they are expensive and my first iPhone the 2G was in many respects a step back for a while until software updates came along but the thing I love about Apple products is the ease of use. Once you buy something Apple, in 3, 6, 8 years down the line, the newest version is still just as easy to pick up and use, that's something you don't often see.

I have the BBC app, and whilst it's very good, it's not access to the whole BBC website, so there is lots of content you still can't see.

If it worked as it should, then the BBC would not have to recode stuff to work on other devices.....saving valuable license fee money

Thanks, Jack. I've just downloaded it and my take seems to have been posted for me....

I wish the guy all the best. Hope whatever the reason for his resignation, he is not about to leave the tech industry too soon.

That said im sure a plan is in place for departure from the company.

Best of health to Steve Jobs

It's not the amount of Apple fanboys that get me, it's the amount of anti-Apple fanboys and how passionate they are about hating everything Apple.

I don't hate Apple or their products, in fact I like them. I'm just not one to get evangelical about them extolling the virtues of Apple ownership. I'm a realist and realise that Apple do not make the best product in the world that their products cannot do everything and in some cases the things they do they do badly, just like a PC. I use whatever suites my needs, however, just because something doesn't work in Windows or Linux on PC hardware I do not automatically assume it'll work faultlessly on a Mac and solve the whole of the worlds ills. However, if they brought out a new Macbook with a 4:3 screen, I'd happily buy that Macbook!!!

Well maybe you shouldn't have bought it then! It's not like it's not a well documented issue.

Maybe a new CEO will give users the option to use Flash or not rather than making the decision for them.

Regardless of all that though if Jobs is resigning through ill health it doesn't look good for him and even as not one of his company's biggest fans I wish him all the best!

I didn't buy it. I was bought it.

I like the rest of it, I think it has some very nice features. But I like the bbc website to get my news, and find it frustrating.

It is a sad day when the founder leaves a company. I hope his health improves.

He is the Grandfather of modern day computing whatever people think of Apple. Things would certainly be different if he never existed. Wish him all the best in his new role.

His new role may not be all that appetising for most folks..

Flash is terrible on all Mobile devices, luckily nearly all content is now available in a format more suited to mobile use, with more arriving every day. No point flogging a dead horse.

"Flash is terrible on all Mobile devices", what, because Steve Jobs says so and because it doesn't work on an iphone or ipad and therefore it must be so? Oh please!!! Skyfire itself isn't great either. The latest Flash player works great on Android and Windows7 tablet/mobile devices. I resent the fact you have to buy an app to get something to (partially!)work which should fundementally be enabled as standard, especially as Flash is the defacto web animation standard.

Flash is terrible on all mobile devices that I've tried it on and I can tell you I've tried it on a lot of them. I could see your argument 4 years ago when alternatives were not available, but time's change - driven by Apple's wise decision - and now every site worth it's salt produces a version of it's content designed for what is now a very significant market.

Have a read of the thread that f1_fan linked to if you want a broader picture.

Listen guys, stop worrying about flash, iphones and iPads. The new CEO Tim has got it all under control and has already laid out his next big idea. Sorted
