some right tight pikies on here. Considerign everyone can afford to run a scoob the price of the licence is hardly a lot.

Remember, it pays for lots of other things the BBC does as well, obviously all these non payers never listen to BBC radio in their car do they?

As for "i don't watch it live so I don't have to pay"

Well it is good that someone does or you'd have eff all to watch wouldn't you?

Brilliant that people are happy to pay a crook like Murdoch masses more to watch tons of adverts and get channels showing programmes the BBC made for a fraction of the cost.

Radio Rental.

I will give you one very important bit of information coming from personal experience

They will get you at somepoint in time
I managed to avoid for many a year, but came home one night from work and the wife had let the ****** in
Boy was he gloating - told me I'd get my date to go to court etc
But I had a laugh too, a good friend of mine is a legal dude.
So after some instruction, I went the following day after being caught and purchased a TV license and had it backdated 4 months prior to getting caught.

I turned up at court in my suit, approached the TV man and showed him the backdated license - his face dropped
So, my time to see judge judy........
I stood up, TV man spoke about backdates license and no loss of revenue to the system etc.
Judge said pay £25 court costs - result in my book

Funny really as I was crapping myself previously as he was handing out fines galore prior to my go - they ranged from several hundred to £1000

I pay the tv license and have not watched any broadcast TV at home since 2004.

i didn't think the tv license man would be sympathetic to my 60" tv on the wall, even though i only watch dvds.

i'd rather not pay it though - my conscience is clean.

well I have no issue paying a TV licence for the superb broadcasts from the BBC, on both TV and radio.

you do have a radio in yr car ? you probably do listen to it ?

I am very happy to pay for channels with no advertising on.

if the rubbish cable channels turn out is the way forward, with no fee, then lets pray to god it never happens.

try travelling around the world and watching TV that is non BBC: its terrible.

you also forget cable TV etc is significantly more expensive than the BBC licence.

I hope the TV man gets you by the short and curlies and fines yr *** big time.

Well done Urban, not only did we pay your share of the TV licence we had to pay for your 'success' in court. No wonder this county is on the decline with tossers like you screwing the system at others expense.

Urban, does your wife normally let in potential rapists, pedophiles and murderers into the home? If no, why the exception in this case, the TVLA are not vetted and have absolutely no legal powers what so ever.

Personally i think everybody should say we are not paying.

Look at it this way, years ago we needed BBC, now we have sky and dont need BBC let them close down who cares and we all wach sky instead.
You might want to check again. Both my sisters are solicitors, i check before posting things like this

I don't mind paying the TV Licence as I watch Top Gear, Hairy Bikers and a few other programs and I like Chris Moyles (sorry) and the Today program on Radio 4.

I do understand a little bit about the resentment to paying it if you never, ever have anything to do with the BBC. But stop paying it, and you will end up with Sky with the dominant broadcaster (if it isn't already) and that really will not be fun.

I agree with paying for the licence as I think the program quality is generally good.
I hate adverts & they render most programs un-watchable.I tend to record anything good I want to watch so I can skip through the ads.

That said,I have heard that the BBC do waste a lot of money. When they have outside coverage they send many more people out than other TV companies & catering/accommodation trucks that other companies do without.
The team seems to increase massively if they are covering an event abroad in a nice location.

These are just things I have heard about through rumour, can anyone verify this?

You read it again, didn't pay for many years, backdated 4 months and paid £25 for a court full of people.

I'd happily pay a few hundred quid extra each year to get rid of the adverts on the other channels. Paying Sky for adverts? No thanks.

I've even developed quite a good lefty filter thanks to Auntie Beeb, now works when I'm not watching telly as well

On a slightly different tack, we are surrounded by "Civil Enforcement Officers" around here whose major occupation is to saunter around the place to see if there is any chance of sticking a parking ticket on your car!

Who thought up that name for them wonder...could only have been NL I imagine. I find it objectionable and distinctly un British.

"Parking Attendant" or similar is perfectly adequate and does not carry the kind of implied threat that their present title does. I suppose it indicates the kind of police state that the Eu and NL would like to control if they ever have the chance!

Seriously, just pay the damn fee.
You obviously watch it as you seem to always moan about Top Gear.
People like you really, really p&ss me off.
Don't you realise that those who don't pay are just adding to the cost of the licence for everyone else. Just like car insurance and just like income tax.

I seriously hope this is a wind up.

I like driving fast cars. Mind, I don't want to pay for one. Perhaps I should just take yours? I mean you've already paid so there is no point me paying as well is there?

Same point, different scale and advocating it is soooo pikey.

I ended up in court for TV Licence evasion ....... a LONG time ago I hasten to add!!

It was all a mis-understanding really .... they wanted me to pay to watch TV, and I didn't want to!

If companies who don't get a share of the tv licence fee are to exist then they have no option but to show advertisements. What else do you suggest? You would not like a vastly increased licene fee to cover their costs as well as the gross waste of money by the BBC.

In fact the advertisements shown by Sky are considerably less intrusive than those shown on ITV, and the BBC does its own share of self advertising as well anyway.

Screwing the system - unlikely, twisted it a little a long time ago yes.
I have never claimed money off the government, and I pay more than my fair share of taxes
So **** you

I guess he didn't tell the truth
