Very interesting responses to my comment - I think I must be the only one who hasn't mentioned the 'German' car
It's amazing what prejudice you can trigger in people.
I think alloy's first post is the one to pay attention to. Get yourself the money sorted and then you are good to go!

Trout, how was the sprint in the GT3?
Anyway people banter aside, it has been done to death.....we all saw the Autocar "Britains Fastest Car" result so we know GTR > GT3 RS

I was in the new Glasgow GTR dealership today, was pleasantly suprised at them having 3 on show. 2 new MY11's & an MY10 thats done i think 13k at 46k. I've booked a drive on there MY11 once its broken in, they reckon it needs 1200 miles (just like STi) before you can get the benefit of it.
Guy reckons it'll be ready in 3 weeks for a drive, i could head over to Edinburgh but i think i'll wait & do some research first.

I can answer most questions on R35 for you I was the GTR master tech for Alex F Nobles.
Yea there is a running in procedure but its more for the first 600-700 miles you need to be easy on the car, after that in the running in procedure it advises you to rev the car harder and for longer holding gears and using the manual mode (paddles)..
I would recommend going to Nobles in Edinburgh well Loanhead as they have much more experience with the cars now, Davy Noble is a top bloke too, I only left as I got offered a job Offshore with 4 x the pay packet or I would still be there.
The MY11 cars are a much better car than the first ones all the silly issues the first lot had are now gone.
If you do go to Nobles tell them Iain Cameron is asking for them I left about a year and a half ago.
They are a top bunch in that place no joke I can not recommend them enough.
Ask for Graham Muirhead hes the other GTR tech there he knows his stuff ex Noble Subaru then Aston Martin then back to Nobles for GTR..
They have some good roads round the area you can give the car some stick, ask for Richard or John the salesmen to take you out they will let you have a bit more fun than Davy himself would if you get what I mean
If you need any info you can PM me and I can forward on any contact details or that you need..
PS they are mental cars you think you have had a quick car before than you get one of these and cobb tune it and fire a Y pipe on it and its just stupid fast.

Come on Trout.... you're a smart guy, we are smart guys.....you don't have to actually name your VW GT3 when you're infering about it's anolgue experience for us to see what point it is you are making
Trout, how was the sprint in the GT3?
Anyway people banter aside, it has been done to death.....we all saw the Autocar "Britains Fastest Car" result so we know GTR > GT3 RS

However, as you bring it up, maybe it does substantiate my point. Autocar have done a couple of things recently, fastest car maybe the GTR; but best car was the Beetle. I seem to remember that the GTR wasn't even in the final five

Very good - car is super stable compared to my old GT3. Ironically I think my older car may have been quicker on this circuit as it was much tighter than usual for Elvington giving an average speed of between 55-65mph, where the car hits the limiter in 2nd at 62mph, a little tricky.
Still got a decent set of times and in the shoot out was within 0.9s of the overall winner which wasn't bad

I am not sure I have ever referred to the Beetle's experience as analogue?!

GTR- former Motor Trend Car of the year, EVO car of the year, Auto Express Performance car of the year ..... the list goes on but you get my point...at the same time i'm sure there are as many accolades for the 911.
Anyway putting the debate between GT3 RS and GTR to bed as it has been done to death, we know about the P-car fanbois and how you all love to come out of the wood work.....porsche make a great car, nissan make a great car...they are both two different things, aimed at two different markets....buy one or the other and you are going to have a riot out on the tarmac regardless....everything else is superfluous

GT3 RS - Motor current PCoTY, current EVO car of the year, current Autocar car of the year ..... the list goes on but you get my point...at the same time i'm sure there are as many accolades for the GTR.

For reference I am probably beyond middle aged, have a shaved head and am about as hooray henry as you can get coming from the roughest council estate in Middlesborough...
...oh, hang on, maybe I should be driving a GTR

And did you guys read the whole thing at the very bottom the verdict says
Summary
Discipline GT-R 997 GT3 RS (facelift)
Track Performance 75 points 59 points
Straight line speed 373 points 364 points
Total 448 423
The verdict
Nissan GT-R is noticeably faster.
Mate I am no way disputing the Porsche is a great car its a amazing machine, I have driven both cars I loved the GT3 and the RS one, but the GTR is better value for money that's what the whole world comes down too these days.

GT3 RS pretty much a dedicated track focused 911, from the weight saving program, to the scaffolding to the tyres....oh and heaven forbid the pedigree and heritage that goes all the way back to Hitler .....the GTR, more power, more weight, all the luxuries, not the tyres and not only does it hang with the beetle, but it beats it as well.....oh and then there is the price...
GTR being compared to GT3 inadvertently shows the respect you all give the car, it's punching above it's class, it's mixing it up, it's a hot topic for debate....its a masterclass in Jap engineering which is why you are all here on Scooby net in the first place....like the Nissan ad campaign promoted "We are traitors" .... "more ***** than badge"...all rings true

Oh and I was not saying you are a Hooray Henry by the way, I was just saying unless you are one and Mummy or Daddy would buy you one then the price tag for each car is massive difference and normal folk would buy the GTR hence bang for buck comment.
So dry your eyes mate and get over it

So taking a sample of comments on here - the biggest issue with a car is what others say about the driver. Brilliant objective analysis.
For reference I am probably beyond middle aged, have a shaved head and am about as hooray henry as you can get coming from the roughest council estate in Middlesborough...

Refer you to the autocar test which doesn't confirm this hypothesis

I would also be interested in others views who have been in both - the RS is more supple on the road than the GTR - so track oriented yes, road capable, more than?
