Perhaps a R205 we could knock the cobwebs off it

My car is in the 600's but its a fully trimmed road car driven by someone with no track experience running Goodyear f1's. I gain no advantage over someone running say 350bhp but thats not to say my car driven by someone who knows what they are doing won't

and Ben Johnson gained nothing from his steroids too. LOL

You've done some sprints now Steve, so not a complete novice.

Hi,

based on the above have we got an event or not.

If we have then get some names down so we can organise it, time is running out.

The longer its left the more chance there is of there being no places left, it would be a shame if the places were mostly taken by non scoobs.

cheers

Hi,

we are just trying to create an event for the Subaru community, if its a success we can make it a yearly event, maybe even a series.

Add to the above a worthwhile prize like the ice driver weekend the series should take off nicely.

All we ask is constructive ideas from the Subaru community so the event is fair and everyone gets a crack at the prize on offer.

Thank you for your input at least its pointed us away from the initial idea of every entrant receiving an entry to the prize draw, now they have got to drive their pants off in their relevant class to get a chance of winning this stunning prize, a prize far bigger than anything given away in other race series, or at least as far as we are aware.

No doubt you will correct us if we are wrongly informed.

cheers
Kev

It was pretty disapointing when the Scooby Sprint series didnt happen for it's second year, plenty of people had become interested in competing and some were building cars specifically for that, so if there is a chance of something along those lines again in the future i'm sure it would be supported, so long as the class structures make sense and the costs are sensible.

I've always been against the idea that everyone is a winner, and no one loses, which seems to have been the PC thing to do in the last decade or so. That idea makes everyone a loser in reality, it's extremely healthy that people who do well get the recognition and the people who dont are able to see they can improve if they try.

It's also good that people who dont have the funds for a big build can still compete to win something, so the class winners having a chance of a big prize is a good thing too.

Agree with you John regarding the fact that humble joe bloggs with mildly modified cars, such as myself, can compete and have fun.

It would appear that the Grudgement series days are numbered, with the October event being cancelled.

I have attended and competed in the last 2 events, and there were more Subaru's than any other make, so I think the demand is there for a Subaru only series.

However, I think cost is the main factor, with the Grudgement days at £45 being affordable.

I might try and do Blyton now then...

I have to agree with John F comments too, seems the fairest way tbh.

Also ref the Grudgements, I see what you mean. The Grudgment Sunday just gone was lacking cars, I recall around 10 cars there were not Subaru, and I think there was only around 30+ cars in total competing, and some of those had to end it early due to issues (cough)

£50 was the competitor fee for Sunday plus £10 gate entry, and to be honest its worth every penny, but the audiance numbers are dropping off too, so they need to come up with ideas of getting folk more involved. Its quite a decent amount of money that is handed over when there are plenty competitors, but not much is returned in prizes imho.

Also I was talking to Dunx on Sunday, and he said (not in so many words) that people are not taking as much interest in Subaru competition due to lack of funds and change of heart

Whooow, not quite...

FroSTI was there to collect his Exedy twin plate.
Tez needs one....
Carl and Bigarf maybe had orders from their bosses ?

And I'm STILL running in.

Cash and time are both in demand.

dunx

P.S. Most of us don't build a car to win prizes ! I'm sure Straightliners are at the mercy of our fabulous climate too !

I didn't turn up to the last Grudgement day because the last time it was twinned with a biker top speed event , the cars were basically given the poor relation treatment.

It is a shame that the next one is cancelled, I didn't know that until I read this thread, its a shame because its a good format and the straightliners team do their best to provide cheap motorsport, but if it is losing money then it just needs a little rethink to how that can be addressed.

It is also a shame ScoobySprint only lasted one series, again financial.

IIRC there was quite a turnout to scoobysprint rounds, perhaps enough to fund a Grudgement series so perhaps if the if the best attributes from both series can be combined it some sort of series could be made to work?

I need to do some minor repairs to my car before it can compete again, if it can be done before Oct 2nd I will be up for either this event at Blyton or the MSA sprint at Debden the same day

Yep, sorry just read the thread on 22B, good to hear its due to lack of staff rather than lack of contestants

There is now a "holding page" on the web for the Scooby Clinic Sprint and can be found at http://www.attackatrack.com. The website, which will include an online booking form, is close to completion and should be online in the next few days.

Anyone wanting to register their interest for the sprint before the website is fully operational should navigate their way to http://www.attackatrack.com and send an email to the address shown at the bottom of the page.

Classes are still being finalised but are likely to follow a similar pattern to SSO, TOTB and Grudgement Days where entrants are split into FWD, RWD, 4WD, Standard, Modified and Pro.

I'll post further details as soon as they become available.

having been to a couple of grudgement days, the biggest advantage does seem to be slicks, i think ppl running slicks should be in pro-class especially if the circuit is tight and twisty where overall power isnt that important.

i am up for this just for a bit of fun tbh

Guys

We're awaiting final confirmation from Javelin, our hands are tied until then I'm afraid.

I promise we're doing all we can to get this up and running.

Try here matey.

Please be aware that this is now just a demo event. The Ice Driver weekend will be the prize at a future sprint.
