Jesus, you lads love a good scrap
As far as BC's being rubbish and failing after a year, who knows? I've read members posts suggesting they are fine after 2/3 years and others stating they are rubbish and knocking after 6? I guess a lot depends on how they are set-up and how they are used.

Sorry to have started this all off people. So are we saying that BC's/Apex are good for me as i am not going to track my car and stay away from eBay? Just want a nicer feel and look.
If you have a Classic(?), then expect the ride to feel harder, as it's at least 200kg lighter. Obviously tinkering with the settings can tune things for you.
But as a couple of people on here have eluded to..... could there be reliability issues down the line?
Not sure on that one.
Apologies for your thread getting derailed somewhat (that certainly wasn't MY intention
)

Yes they are great for what you need.
Apex customer care is great as well.
I personally have done just over 4k in my car since last November and don't expect to top 6k a year. With that in mind I can see them lasting a few years if I protect them from rust and road salt. Someone doing 20k + might have problems.
I carried out a little digging on the net when my BC's started to creak, it took me all over different forums of different marquees.....I was amazed at how many people have complained about failing BC's.
Hmmmn, and there was me thinking £650+ was a lot of moolah for a set of coilovers. Looks like perhaps you have to spend £1000+ to secure a decent set that perhaps won't 'fail'.....
*confused now*

Lloyd, for your info, I am back from Litchfields and after £100 (1.5 hrs work) my geometry has been set up. Well worth it, as the car just feels much better now. I would recommend them, if only for the cuppa and view of GT-Rs!

To clarify. We are BC dealers and so far I have not had a single failure or complaint about ride quality etc etc.
The group buy ones are not the same as the BC series, they are a lower price product NOT an inferior one. I questioned Bren last year when a customer was telling me that he could buy coilovers cheaper than my trade price. The answer was that the cheaper product was Apex branded, not BC branded and had less 'features ' than the pukka BC series. Can't remember what though, as we have never seen or fitted them.
We like the BC series as they are extremely good value for money and have a good range of adjustment that suits many applications.
We have cars that come here running on full hard settings, which, given the state of UK roads, is likely to cause trouble in the form of leaks when the pressure is set so high. Ideally the full hard is track [ smooth surface ] use only and We do not recommend running so hard on daily use. It must shorten their life.

Thanks David. I knew (hoped) you post on here to clear that up.
Apologies, in part, on saying that the Apex items were inferior. I got that particular aspect wrong, granted.
So David, still good to go on a set of BCs then -- just don't have them set to rock hard?!

David, I pm you.
Myles, thanks, litchfields is about 3 and a half hours from me. Sounds like it it worth the trip. But need to get the coilovers first. Might just bite the bullet and get them to supply, fit and set up.

David, thanks for your input. I myself continue to be confused given a local BC dealer stated they are the same coilover, as did an Apex staff member yesterday to a forum member on the telephone. Visually they appear to have the same features. The only difference being colour.
I think the linchpin in this really is the issue of trade price. It's not ideal for any dealer to be undercut by their supplier who choses to sell direct to the public. It would be a fair bet to assume that some dealers are likely to advise their customers that the Apex units have less features, are of a lower quality etc.
I'm not saying that you personally have used unfounded claims to do so. However it may be an idea for Apex to inform their dealers, and if appropriate, customers, what the differences are, if any.

It may be simple like the cheaper ones don't come with pillow ball top mounts, maybe that is it? But as we don't use or sell the cheaper ones I am not sure.

The Apex ones are identical. The fronts have the 'ball and socket' type affair on the top plate with camber adjustment and the rears have a solid rubber type mount.
I think historically both coilovers were supplied with alloy rear mounts but these were changed due to noise / knocking issues?
I can easily send you a picture of my Apex set David as they are yet to be fitted. If you're interested?
