And visa versa In the U.S,they prefer OS mapping and i think the U.S is a little bit bigger iv tried and tested both two with Ecutek and now with OS my first Ecutek was just a flash from another map i know as the mapper only took 30 min to map my car, this was a well known garage who specialize in Subaru and evo s.The other ecutec remap i had was done on the rd by a mobile ecutek mapper (well known on sn) and two weeks later i took it to a rolling rd day at Area 52 to be told the fueling was not good as i was using the same amount of fuel pottering around as being on full pelt something to do with the open loop no being changed.
Iv also found that most people will get better results using OS then Ecutec well thats my pennies worth.

I agree. Pick a tuner really. All on here are great, very helpful indeed and know their stuff. Duncan did my 06 wrx open source a couple of months back and its great. We did first setup on road, then rolling road for fast bits and fine tune, then road test. So cost me £350 for map + £70 for 1 hour on the rolling road. Most Ecutec places that have their own rolling road will include the rolling road charges free of charge. Also if the Ecutec map needs changing then it may only cost you rolling road time. Is not much in it really!
Very happy with my car. 334bhp & 381ft/lb torque. Sorted!

Interesting....I have ECUTek on my car, but if I was to do it all again I'd actually probably go for open source because (and correct me if I'm wrong here people in the know):
1) I believe you can plugin and modify ECU items afterwards if you want to using programs like ECUExplorer, etc?
2) It doesn't lock your ECU like ECUTek does
3) The older (non racerom) versions of ECUTek like on my bug don't support disabling things like the CEL that gets thrown when you remove the temperature sensor for the up pipe, etc. Consequently, when I fitted an STI up pipe, I had to fit a resistor to stop this CEL being thrown; with open source I could just have updated the ECU to disable the CEL.
4) I know just as many people with open source maps as ECUTek and both are equally happy. The nightmares you hear about tend to be down to people screwing around with their maps themselves or fitting dodgy parts; of course there will always be exceptions, but in the hands of an experienced mapper, either ECUTek or OS is sufficient to do the job right.
Don't get me wrong, the car runs really well with Simon's (JGM) map, but I think ECUTek are like most phone manufacturers nowadays, they concentrate on the latest cars and the older models tend to get forgotten.
Simon said he's been asking for features like this now for over a year and gets no response..... Shame really.
