Just a dismal note of caution David, not to pi$$ on your bonfire really, learning myself on the following I am afraid...

Would a TD05 overspeed at 26 PSI do you think? This would be a PR of 2.8 even assuming zero inlet tract restriction and no pressure drop across your IC. Might be more like 2.9. That has to be over 170000 RPM and possibly more like 200000 RPM if it is a 15G wheel? Could go supersonic and the blade tip disappear. It seems I managed to overspeed a VF at only 22 PSI manifold pressure. Don't want you to fill your nice new FMIC or potentially your engine with compressor blades. I think Andy F's TD05 compressor wheel was suffering at somewhere between 22 and 26 PSI.

It would still be nice to see figures from your car at a boost pressure that is a bit safer, and a figure at say 20 PSI could be very respectable?

22psi peak with 14(?)psi held.

The car sounded great! I think everyone held their breath each time the engine was run up on the rollers

Having had a poke around under the bonnet all I can say is wow - David is a most ingenious young man!

Question

OK, so apart from the obvious FMIC what else has changed on the car for it to produce 345BHP??

Edited to ask if that includes the NOS??

Yeah... congrats David... very nice run. Must admit... i was expecting your car to explode. Glad it didn't though. You put up a good show for the 5 doors

You've probably already got it but i've got your run on vid if you want a copy.

35bhp and 341 lbft torque.

No it doesnt include nitrous.

this was done on a run where it held 22psi throughout, it was the last 2 runs that dropped to 14psi.

Waterinjection, bigger injectors, standard turbo, DIY FMIC and thats it...

....oh and the home made remap

Well done mate, you beat me for alot less cash.

Max Torque looks about 340lbft @ 4600rpm (graph doesnt say peak or revs)

Will be returning shortly as some people think they saw higher.. and I have a slight dip in power at 5100rpm.. (think this was due to some knock and the ecu retarding the timing)

So will look at the timing again after a rest... also need to sort boost control out as the map sensor was bodged in...

David, excellent results. When you say running with the wideband lambda and the factory lambda disabled - do you mean you just unplugged the factory sensor or did you do something in software?

We disabled closed loop control in the software then unplugged it... so we could have the w/band in the downpipe with display on the dashboard...

Slight problem with timing circa 6k revs... going to also bring Water Injection in earlier due to advice from R19KET and Trout..

What to do next??

Chase 400bhp.. More boost, move torque curve lower down etc..

front entry td05 with 18g Compressor wheel next and custom Inlet pipe next..

Suggestions for next DIY thread?

Weren't you after a six speed gearbox from an STI7? What about DIY gearbox change?
Whatever it is I can't wait. I've learnt loads from this thread over the last few months.
