5 Points and £300 is my thinking.

It's not a bad speed .... I wouldn't even think about being clever and trying to get off.

As Pete suggests above.
Getting into the lies , wasting police time , perverting course of justice , perjury, is an over reaction and a wholly different minefield to enter. Do you know who was driving....that's the only question you need ask yourself

Not been in court before (well, not in the dock), but I would imagine it's just matter of looking out a good suit and tie, being apologetic and making it clear it was just a one off!

Mate i feel for you. I have got summonsed to court on the 24th AUG for speeding 114mph on a dual carriageway. I am only to blame at the end of the day. But i have been advised by my solicitor ill be seeing a 3-6 month ban.. 3-6 points and a 200 - 500 pound fine. Due to circumstances ( cheap STi for sale if anyone's interested though.. ) good luck with your outcome dude.

I would say it was a potential buyer of your car, and they left a large sum of money to take it for a test drive.

I like your style but...... I was caught doing 68 in a 50 two ish years ago. I responded with i can not remember who was driving at the time of the alleged offence as it could have been one of three drivers.. Simples right, wrong!!! Copper said as the driver of the vehicle it was my responsibility to know who drives my car at all times, subsequently i was not acting with good due diligence to find out who was driving.. My case goes to court i get 6 points and a £600 pound fine. good news is i still have not be done for speeding, Money grabbing barstuerds if you can fight them go for it, you do however have my sympathy. good luck to all as the motorist is a very well hunted animal

That's the problem with people these days, no-one wants to take responsibility for their actions.

Agreed

Take the punishment that comes with the crime, get caught speeding it's your fault no one else's

Admit it and pay the fine/points/extra cost of next years insurance, learn from it and move on!

I got flashed by a speed camera around about the same time I was selling the car. I responded that I did not know who it was driving the car, as it was being test driven all that week by multiple people. However I did include an additional note to the form stating the name and address of "John" who may have been the driver at the time, but I couldn't 100% sure. Theres a "John" in every city remember!! Never heard a thing, and that was near 4 years ago.

Doing 98mph on the motorway is different from doing 80 in a 30 zone. I'm sure most of us regularly drift (not literally) between 70-100. Personally I would attempt to get out of it anyway I could, it's bad enough the goverment bum rape us through road tax and fuel tax. They can F**K OFF!!

Laws are there for a reason. It's not like it's a secret is it? Do the crime, expect to get caught.

just bare in
mind thatr if you cannot prove it was NOT you driving, they will award the points to the registered keeper anyway. Unless a photo is used in court to provide evidence that is beyond doubt its you! Just be careful of the nigerian brother solution ;-)

you havent got to prove that you werent driving dont accept it put in a random name with a random address that someone gave you that was buying your car end of!!! and the 10% rule is a grey area depending on what county your in i work for kent and surrey police and surrey are a lot harder on drivers but seriously ask for a photo and contest it becuase i guarentee that your get away with it!!

That's ludicrous.

The police said they were too busy to investigate 11,000 pages of phone hacking evidence, but they divert resources to nick motorists for doing 73?!

Unbelievable.

You can still get a producer despite computerised records, if you are stopped by an officer and are not carrying your photocard licence you will have to produce to prove that you are who you claim to be.

It was a van. Probably has a lower limit than the posted limit of the road.

Look at the "97s". RS2000, 97 in a 30!!! 547 day ban!

lol u were only 18 over you would of only got 3 points n £60 fine! You royally buggered yourself by contesting it with that weak excuse and that's why you should take it on the chin n cough up.

When you go to court thank the police for their sterling efforts with the speed trap camera and inform them that your speedo was actually reading 145 mph and this court appearance has highlighted the fact that there is something drastically wrong with your car which needs addressing and you'll be back to the same spot in a couple of weeks to see if the car has been correctly rectified.!!

Send them a letter saying you have no idea who it was and that it most definatly was not you as you were no where near that road at the time and all that you can think is that someone must have cloned your car.

It's got to be worth a punt you have nothing to lose so give it a try.

If the worst comes to the worst you get what you would have got in the first place so alls well that ends well.

The Authorities have seen every trick, heard every excuse and witnessed plenty of lies .... they are most impressed with someone who turns up to court, shows them due respect, is dressed as if going for a job interview, admits the offence, apologises and ask for 'understanding' that you never normally speed.

This action will reduce the fine - fines are always less if you show that you are a person - not simply a name on a sheet of offenders!

As TinyTim says, take it like a man - you know you were speeding, it's a fair cop as they say.

68 in a 50 would have been a lot less than 6 points and £600 fine. I don't see your point... Likelihood is you've have got a £60 fine and 3 points with an early guilty plea.

What's your driver's licence record like? Any previous on there, even 'spent' convictions?

Spent aren't meant to be taken into consideration, but I can tell you they sure as hell are. Soon as mine were over their time, I sent my licence off to have them removed
