Now if you look at the cost of an STI type UK in 2002, 25k (26 for the prodrive style), it went up in 2005 because of the A-DCCD they added (so 26k), then it wasnt too bad until they put another 7k on it.... thats quite a hike, and you can get a full jap spec car with 320bhp and no dodgy engine for less than subaru UK do them for something definately wrong there

Yeah, who is the sad little old man who just sits on myriad forums doing exactly what you do on here......?
'You bikers are all pansies'
'My Impreza is a lot better than all your Civics, and Id rather have a Type S than a Type R'
'My Civic is better than your Imprezas, blah blah'
The list goes on.
Do they not have a lights out policy in the mental home? If so its bed time Pete, go get your straitjacket on.

Come on Pete...... some of the things you post do make sense but most of the time it's just baiting and trolling. The sad thing is it appears you do this not only here, but on other forums and have being doing so for a long time. Perhaps speaking to someone would help............

Just now you were explaining yourself by saying it was 7 years ago, now you have read it you are changing your tune. The problem with being a troll is you forget who you have been trolling.

I too have car offers come through the letterbox or e mail, but i don,t feel a need or desire to slag these companies off on forums. No car is a sensible purchase financially unless it,s a diesel that does over 70 mpg. Such economy means serious lack of performance. There are performance diesel,s. I,ve recently been using a BMW123d which i must say is an awesome car (few options), though costs more than a new STI. The BMW returns 47 mpg combined and would be my choice out of the two cars. If you believe the Finance Deal - sold as an "AMAZING" Offer - is good then fair enough.
Sometimes one feels the need to voice ones disgust at being fed a crappy offer under the cover of some marketing tripe which attempts to mislead you into thinking it's a 'Phenomenal Finance Deal' (Subaru's own words).
I feel it's my duty, nay, obligation, to alert the flaws in the marketing blurb ... I mean, come on, what numptie pays a 'Purchase Fee'? What village idiot pays a 'Acceptance Fee'? When I want credit they are honoured to have my custom - they wouldn't get any mileage from me on 'Fees!' ..... the very thought that people actually bend over and pay these boils my blood to be honest.
As for paying a laughable 9.7% ..... pah, i don't think so!!
And then, the final humility of it all, on the final payment - 36 months down the line - you look back and have been charged £38,363 for a car sitting on your drive that you couldn't sell for more then £12,000 ....... that's if you can find anyone to buy it (imagine what fuel costs will be in 3 years time?).
I wouldn't mind at all what Finance Deal Subaru cobble together, or whether they can convince numpties to sign up to it, or whether the buyer thinks it's all a price worth paying ..... fair play, it's called trade and an open market.
But, when I get told that this is a PHENOMENAL Finance Deal and I should jump now .. well, it puts Subaru UK in the same bucket as World of Leather, DFS, MFI and every other company who target the chavs ...... and they should, let's be honest, be above all that nonsense!
jh1 - you say I need to get a life ....... fair enough, that's your opinion and you may well be right. But, consider this, you have actually read a through thread you disagree with - took the time to post - and slagged off a person you don't know from Adam ..... if it's a life that needs getting may I suggest you go to the shops and see if you can purchase one on a 'Phenomenal Finance Deal'!?

I'm not sure whether you bought (it's not actually brought) a new one? Or if you took the Finance Deal? Maybe you bought wise and bought secondhand when the major losses had already been incurred by someone else?
You can half your driving costs buy buying a sensible car .. no need for pushbikes

Yes, there's an IGNORE button where you can remove someones posts in a thread.
But, I can guarantee that you will soon remove the ignore pslewis as the place becomes rather sterile and devoid of interactive pleasures.
Terminator X claims he has me on ignore .... which is quite simply amazing, as he posts on ALL my threads ..... Ask yourself why he would read one of my threads if I am the OP and Author and he claims to have me on ignore!?
Terminator X loves me, couldn't do without me, needs me to spice up his life ... so, don't take what he says too seriously - he's pretty harmless really

You are quite correct in stating the car will depreciate, but again that's the nature of the beast. All cars, baring rare and exotics, depreciate. Some worse than others. Experts have long warned against buying new as you take the biggest hit. However if you want a new car that's the price you pay.
Ultimately this is the situation the majority are finding themselves in should they wish to own a new Impreza STi. It's hardly the world's worst deal ever cobbled together. You don't agree with it, fair enough, but the level you are going to with these thread is bordering on scary. It's almost as if you've looked at this email as a personal insult and that everyone should have the same (alleged) financial means as you, not to mention the same opinions as well. It's actually all rather sad, and I for one wouldn't mind seeing an end to it as your postings now contribute very little, other than aggravation which is sad when you consider you're an intelligent man with a wealth of knowledge.

Unless it's 0% Finance I think you will find everyone who buys a car on HP will pay a Doc Fee of some description and since the majority of people use finance like this to fund a new car I think your insulting their intelligence really.
No one wants to pay these fees we all know that, it doesn't need you to state the obvious really and go on and on.

GRAMMAR POLICE ALERT
It's not an alternative spelling.
License is the correct spelling when the word is used as a verb - eg. "I licensed my car".
Licence is the correct spelling when used as a noun - eg. "I have a driving licence".
To write "I have a driving license" is just wrong (unless you are American).

I don't agree with you, but that's OK also.
I have pulled out a section of your excellent post above and will ask the question which is begging to be asked in all honesty ...... "Why, OH, Why, is someone who would struggle to get a credit agreement better than the one offered by Subaru even considering buying such a car?" .... you are clearly an intelligent person, surely you can see that they are probably a little bit daft/stupid/mislead?
These are cars which will cost over £38,000 over 3 years just in purchase costs alone, add to that the sub 20mpg fuel costs, the Insurance costs, the Road Tax costs and Servicing costs ........ to my mind, only those who can pay cash, do not need silly Finance and have an income way above the average should even consider buying one of these beasts.
