now if i was driving like a t*** i wouldnt mind but to be pulled for what i suspect was because i was driving a scooby is stupid.
i dont drive like an idiot on the roads as im 36 and have done all that, my car is 100% legal has new tyres and i dont even have a loud exhaust, i have a miltek which is quiet.
maybe hes just upset because he has to drive a skoda!
Just out of interest how long ago was that TT? I was stopped just off the dual carriageway outside tescos.
I have a Milltek system too so it wasn't a noise thing, and they even said it wasn't for excess speed.
What a pair of t@@ssers.

it was only a few weeks back.
as i said before if i had a loud exhaust small number plate or was driving like an idiot then hands up its a fair cop.
but i was driving well within the speed limit and no loud exhaust silly tints/plates.
i got the feeling they pulled me then spent a while checking the car and looking for faults of which they couldnt find so lectured me about something i wasnt doing.
and yes it was the bit of road between tesco and mcdonalds towards billing.
ive seen the octavia on the a14 and around kettering lately but they dont bother me in my old astra...

erm no its not. The change in law regarding DB is for new cars, they cannot be louder than standard.
There is no law for older cars regarding noise, its MOT testers decision. Bikes have a noise limit.

When I was last pulled over it was for accelerating to fast from traffic lights
I did not exceed the speed limit for the road
The officer who stopped me said he had pulled me for "spirited driving"
When I asked if this was an endorsable offence he replied
"No sir, on your way"
I think he was looking for drink drivers

This is from the MOT manual but still seams a grey area but as a few friends are mot testers and work college's have said it's changed!!!

b. assess subjectively the effectiveness of the silencer in reducing exhaust noise to a level considered to be average for the vehicle

Here we go from the mouth of an mot tester

it says is the exhaust louder than a genuine exhaust in good condition if it is its a fail and i think the police can confiscate not on an mot but on the road, mot is is it noisier

hope this helps a bit!!!

How would an MOT tester or the police know if my exhaust is louder than a standard one ??
Yes yes is obvious but prove it. Subaru don't issue any DB levels for there cars so even testing my exhaust would not prove a thing.
It's complete and utter bollocks !
There must be millions of cars on our roads with non standard exhaust and the police can do nothing about it other than use scare tactics like they did with me.

The standard tinted glass on their Volvo looked no lighter than the tint on my car. They point blank refused when I asked them to use their gauge on their own car.

Oh dear Matt, you silly sod! Not having your seat belt on lol. Your windows can't be that dark if they saw you wasn't wearing it

A couple of years ago a previouse scoob of mine failed an mot and one thing was the exhasut and its emissions. When I confronted the tester and asked about the exhaust itself, he told me that becasue it wasn't standard and was noiseyer they can fail it. I called vosa and they told me that there wasn't a limit on db (I thought that was bollox) and it was up to the discression of the testing station. So "The Garage" in March, Cambs don't get any more of our business for being jobsworths

Was this nabbing in March? What was the young officers name if it was?

Didn't take the officers name, just kept my mouth shut and smiled after he mentioned prohibition..
