I don't think everyone has your expertise Jura. Buying a mac is simpler for most everyone.

All in one,is great,bu not like proper case with more bays etc.

I have before Macbook Pro i've sold this within one week, why is overpriced and is not worth,if i can build similar for lot less, just will be little bit less trendy, but will be powerful than Macbook Pro.

My analogy is different from your,i rather will do my own, like pay someone for something which i can do better in therm of Performance and this matter for me most,if Lion or Apple will support in future only 3DS Max and Maya,Catia i would invest money to Mac,but until i rather invest money to PC,because will run these SW without the simple problem.

Well i've now got a set of very specific instructions for my model of laptop for installing 10.6.8 so will do that and then follow other guides for installing Lion if I find one that is clear enough and proven to work. At least i'll have a backup of 10.6.8 installed before I start Lion so if it goes pear shaped it can be imaged straight back to the partition.

Enjoy your hobby. My time is far too valuable to be spending it on a hobby like Hackintosh, add up the time you spend working out how to make it work, then add the time it takes to make it work, factor in updates and you could have bought a Mac.

Jack as usual you are too negative about something which can be do easily and cheaper than Apple doing.
But you must agree everything started as hobby and ended as Apple or MS etc.
My Hackintosh is fully updated and can be updated, working as charm.First time when i've run Mac OS has been few hick ups,but later is just nice procedure running on older P4 Tiger or Leopard for few fiends which want run Logic.

As you know, this never been about the wages

As i said before if Apple will support in future upgradable GPU in Mac pro i'll consider Mac pro,why is for me this important?
Just due Maya and 3DS Max,Catia ,where i need fast GPU,not just cheapest GPU on market.

And in return Jura you make Apple sound like they're rebadging Dell boxes, which is hardly the case. You can put a Ferrari engine in a Lada but it's still not a Ferrari.

Jack but Apple rebadging PC HW to own boxes, which is not same as been before like Apple G4 etc,has been one off system.

But everyone doing same rebadging,as you know what selling the Apple items,is badge and this is same with cars,as we know everything is all about the badge.

Agree with you Macbook Pro is nice piece of kit, which is nicely made,Air too is nicely made, just polycarbonate Macbook(white one) has been disappointing for me,yes has have Apple badge, but material which use on this has been just rip off.

interesting analagy with the cars

If an apple pc is a ferrari. does that mean other PCs are generally rubbish cars with an Aston engine in?

(given that windows 7 and osx are both capable and pretty much down to user preference)

You have to give some value to the software that's installed on a Mac. It's pretty much ready to do 99% of the home buyers tasks straight out of the box. That and a classy exterior alone makes up the price difference.

Anyhow, please carry on, more than a few have moved to Apple products from Hackintosh.

Here's an article on how to upgrade to Lion, the comments are interesting and seem to back up my 'hobby' claims. http://lifehacker.com/5823837/how-do...-mac-os-x-lion

Glad you liked it. What PC are we talking about? A £50 job from China is a completely different beast to an Alienware teenager machine. It's difficult comparing Windows to OSX when Macs always comes with quality components and service and Windows could be supplied OEM with a packet of ****.

Analogy between the cars has been just comparing Jack analogy...
I would say Aston is not rubbish, but still for these money i would take rather GTR

Its all about the users, without the users both platform are just ...

Exterior of Mac is nice i must say,but is manufactured from cheapest available components(in this i don't mean Mac Pro)

I've moved from Macbook to PC/Hackintosh and i'm not considering move again to Macbook anytime soon,if new Logic will be available only on special platform which cannot be done on PC,i would go,but until is available and everything working well i'm staying on PC/Hackintosh

I've upgraded mine Hckintosh to Lion, but later i've revert again to SL which working few months without the single problem in my studio....

Yeah people moving from Hackintosh to Mac due,but this is only minority....

Jack you are fanboy ,agree AlienWare is ridiculous and not for me,i'm not fan of Notebooks...

Comparing Windows and Mac OSX is not possible and will be not possible until Mac osx will support above mentioned things and will be more useful in Graphic studios(Maya,3DS max etc), not just for PS(PhotoShop) etc.
