It's dirty work, but somebody has to do it.

Anyway, I've made my point .... I feel for the children who could have been helped had the money been accepted.

They clearly have too much in the way of funds .... I shall support something else in future!

Not in my experience, it's normally wealth acquired from the most dubious means that leads one to try to cleanse ones conscience with charity.

It's how the super-rich sleep at night.

Perhaps you should give the money back to taxpayer instead?

Yes, I believe most of us that have been around long enough know who you allegedly work for but why not just say it?

Embarrassed? Ashamed? or just another lie?

Personally I don't think it would be fair to ask someone to divulge that sort of information. You wouldn't want to tell people where you work unless you choose to, you don't know who's reading this.

They would just waste it on MP's expenses ........... nah, the children should have had it!

I would bet that the parents of sick children wouldn't care where the money came from, as long as it saved their child .... and for the Management of GOS to decide what money to accept (on the parents behalf) is quite staggering.

Yes there is a dilemma, but you are bringing emotionalism into this now, it's not about that but the perpetuation of GOS as the institution it is now.

Besides aren't you 72? Have you not realised by now that money can't always buy respectability?

If the money is for sick children why make a song & dance about it and take a stance?
Just send it anonymously.

If you are genuinely concerned then send the money through a lawyer anonymously.

IIRC Lewis works in the canteen at AWE (or whatever they are called now). He has an "O" Level in making bombs which kill children.

If PSL works in the kitchen that would be biological warfare.

I think you will find that image comes from Iraq ... when Saddam gassed an entire village.

I will ask a simple, disturbing, question to the tree huggers amongst you .... if that was your child in the picture, and we had the where-with-all to obliterate the people who killed you child ............. would you support a retaliation?

Most people, if faced with this, would say "Yes! Blow the b4stards to hell!!" and I can understand fully your stance .... therefore, you need some people to ensure that you have the capability to do just that.

More importantly, you want to tell your enemy that if they so much as harm one of your family they will be destroyed ... support your Defences! Because, as long as we have a bigger gun we can damage them severly.

Terrorsits are another problem altogether - but the ultimate weapon is not designed to deter them .... we have other things which can do that.

Peter, you have been brainwashed into believing that bombs are a good thing. They are not. You think UK should be at the "Top Table" as you put it earlier. IMHO this is bollox. We no longer have an Empire and we can't afford it anyway. Forget Trident and the other white elephants. All it really does it make us a prime target for terrorist attacks. No one is going to attack UK as the Yanks or Israeli's will get there first. Apart from dirty bombs from terrorists. And anyway the Chinese will have taken over in a decade or so (they might be buying Greece in the next few days?)

Sure if someone blew my kids up I would want to do the same to them. Just as if someone raped my daughter I would hunt them down and kill the b,astard as painfully as I could (or pay someone to do it for me). But that doesn't make it right.

Not forgetting that the kids blown up were quite possibly dead because we sold the bombs in the first place.

Reading your post tells me that you do want the capability to be there to carry out an attack upon our enemies .... if you do then we need bombs, missiles and weapons of mass destruction.

Peter (brainwashed by common sense and courage!)

If you do make nukes in your spare time then you have to accept that a world famous hospital specialising in childcare has to be careful what donations it accepts.

You can imagine the Daily Fail headlines along the lines of child saviours and death mongers (or some other tripe)

To then refuse your own donations is a bit unfair.

How you can interpret my post as my wanting to have the attack capability is a mystery to me. No I think it is a waste of money. And I don't want us to make arms either (big money earner notwithstanding).

So who are these enemies that we might nuke then PSL?

Iran - Israel will get there first (or USA)

Pakistan - that would go down well in Bradford

N Korea - no

Libya/Syria etc - not appropriate

China - yeah right

Wales - ermmmmm

We can always be nice to our Europeans friends in France as they spend ridiculous amounts of money on arms. And there's always the good 'ol USA - just need to give them a map first..
