Hi all
as a recipient last year of a person accusing me of 'dangerous driving' I know how it feels to be accused of this.
People, please be relistic at what speed you are happy to drive at.
Just because you have a fast car does not mean that you have to drive fast.
To enjoy yourself is the name of the game.
Chris drives very fast within his safety envelope. Yours may be diferent.
If you think you are a fast driver and find yourself in a group going 'too fast/taking too many risks (in your opinion)' drop back to a slower group (as has been said) and swallow your pride. Try not hold people up because you may be spoiling their enjoyment.
If you think you will complain at people driving faster than yourself/taking overtaking manouvers that you yourself would be unhappy with, please don't come, cause it always causes trouble.
By far the majority of people enjoy these runs and would not want to see them disappear.
Risk, as far as I see it, is all a matter of opinion.
Funny that when we have a mixed group, the complaints come from other makes of car (mine was a Lotus Elise). Personally I (still)like to have a small mix of cars, with Subaru's in the majority though. But maybe having a mix is not working out?.
Sorry to be so late on this, as it was 24 hours ago I last looked on Scoobynet.
Off to watch the Evo beat the STi7 (IMHO, evo-no compromise road car built for speed, STi7-all round more compromised nearly as fast car at 5grand cheaper. You takes your pick and be happy-not argumentative)

i do agree that it was out of order to post it on here.
If some everyday joe bloggs off the street did it what would you do SK? you couldnt post on here about it could you, i think you have just blow it out of proportion and responded to it by posting on here because you knew mellow would see it.
<flame suite on>
now lets have a group hug
PS. Karaoke

Here here Slider, well said.
Not saying it's the case here, as I wasn't there, so I'm not in a position to comment, (although I've been with Mellow at full pelt quite a few times and though he's VERY quick, I NEVER for one second felt unsafe as he is very skilled indeed).
But a lot of the time it's BIG DICK SYNDROME kicking in. Someone passes you when you are driving quick and it's like someone's wapped out a massive todger at the side of you in the bogs. Us men feel too defensive about our masculinity/***** size/driving ability that if someone is better than us we automatically get p1ssed off. I think this is what happened in Slider's case.
We take our driving ability SOOO seriously, like our skill in bed, someone says your a crap singer and no ones is arsed, someone says you are crap in bed/at driving and we go crazy.
Anyway, that's my waffling over for the day.
I hope we can all meet up at Mellow's for a booze up and a karaoke (SK included)and just have a laugh about it. Life's too short to fall out with folk.
We even got Slider singing the other week

Ahh ok
My car will be back on the road by the end of this week hopefully.. There where some parts needed for it from Japan..ie, boot flooring, or boot skin, not an everyday part they keep in stock..
Rich, got hit in the back and then forsced into the car infront, on the way back from Oulon Park , it was snowing and the guy hit me at a rather fast speed..10k of damage to the car..
All fixed though *nearly*

In all seriousness and please no-one take this the wrong way but I very much doubt that 90% of scoobs could keep anywhere near a standard EVO....let alone RichW's who is not only an ex scoob owner but is a very competent and skilfull driver with a modified car to boot....it's the usual thing isn't it of having to spend fortunes (as I have) on a scoob to make it handle...stop...and perform accordingly IMHO of course....there's very little between a std P1 and a std EVO....or a late STi for that matter...EVO's as std already have that advantage over the scoob.... Simple as that I really don't want to be a part of this us v's them sort of thing....a great mix of cars is a wonderful sight for all to see...we all have the same things in common with regards to our cars so lets respect that eh
Now having learn't my lesson the hard way I fully intend in future that if I attend any more meets I will stay in the group I'm placed in and will hold the position in that group (if I can keep up that is )....I am even looking forward to taking a leaf out of Charlie Whiskey's book and fully intend to stop at interesting places to take pics...admire the view...or whatever
I'll leave the rest of my aquired skills to trackwork
Chris

mellow,
Don't tell me your mellowing in your old age !!!!!!!!
As your vid was running did you get me a few feet in the air on the yump, just before you passed me ??????????? (oohh better rewrite that ......... before I let you passed )
As has been said on this thread everybody has a different view of how to drive, it is SO subjective.
I told you my views at the pub, personally I would not have taken on some of the manouvers as you did, but hey, you felt you had the line of sight to carry them out safely and as such got away with them, so nobody was harmed .. except maybe some pride on a certain persons behalf
I look 4ward to the next meet and having your company, thats if you dont sell the beast before then.
WHEN is the viewing and drinkies ?????
Regards
Tim
Blue VI
p.s BobT is that before the wall jumps out or after ??????

who are we to say how eachother drives on one of these drives
what is dangerous to one could be perfectly normal to another
as to keeping mellow to his own position in group ect.
i think this idea is poo how can you get the most out of your car if put in a group which isnt upto your standard of driving they could end up causing an accident by pushing beyond there skills or the cars limits to keep ahead of a quicker car
ive been on a few of these meets now and already know which drivers i can drive with and wich ones i find dangerous or slow so i think i speak for alot of us when i say why not pick yourself a groop not just be put with people you dont know there driving style etc.
