wow 280 miles out of a tank full
im not that concerned, just doesnt seem logical to me... i'll carry on as i have for the last ten years
My car did 280 and the the light came on so prob would have had a bit more in there but not sure how much the reserve is in the uk bug's.
We tend to fill our cars up as dont live in town so saves us petrol having to drive to shell in town to get more petrol and dont want gank in the tank getting through just in case.

i get about 190 to 200 mile from full to the 1/4 mark around town and the odd whizz and always fill up at this point usually takes around 9 gallons to fill back up although did do a couple of motorway runs yesterday and got about 230 from full to 1/4 mark obviousl being in 6th at a steady speed just off boost helps.....but hey who cares you dont buy scoobs for fuel economy and thats a 2007 sti uk with ppp around 320 bhp ish..
Mine`s a 2003 STI blob running 340bhp. I get on average 200 miles to a tank (dail driving) but the best I`ve had was last time I went down to my girlfriend`s in Kent (70 - 75mph all the way, motorway) and I got 320 miles to a tank but to be honest it was veeeeeery booooooring
i fill up approx £67 a full tank and get an average of 200 to 240 miles. 30miles per day in rush hour traffic. tbh am not arsed how many or little miles i get out of a tank of petrol as long as i have had fun thats all that counts for me :-)
MY07 RB320, standard!
After a very spirited pass back over the 'Cat & Fiddle'
, then a run down the Prodrive, then a heavy right footed +speed trip back home...... 290 miles and when I filled up, all the V-Power I could sqeeze in was 47 litres

Cause i`ve heard on here fuel surge at around a quarter tank, like a long fast roundabout can cause the pump to suck air. Not good at all on a turbo motor.
Never let mine get under a half now.

so it seems my normal 240 on back roads out of a tank pre light coming on is about right then from what you have all said if not on the little thirsty side. which is still much better than my old Pulsar GTIR. i was well made up i got 280 cant remember last time i saw that out of a tank of petrol.
i get 260 just as redlight comes on, have gone as far as 280 before ****ting my pants and filling up again - i run 99 octane on a 2005 wrx bloc eye - remapped with a vf34 + injectors, full decat japspec which has 320bhp proven.
pretty happy with that, bearing in mind its a heavy car and a sports performance end of the day. My mates Nissan 350z used to get 350 miles to a tank and that was a 3.5 litre, and my mates 2.2vtex old man accord gets 370. as a comparison.
my previous 330d bmw remapped used to bring in 450 miles but that was a £90 fill up.

no motorways all of that was on back roads and over taking the odd car Im So made up i was normally getting 240 max
it may have something to do with
1 driving with a dodgy right ankle
2, following the camper when went away for the weekend
3, needing some new rear shocks so taking it slightly easier than normal.
how much is normal miles out of a tank of fuel in an STI ? (non motorway driving)
what do you all get out of your cars ? mine is not really modded apart from PPP.

If I could get 400 to a tank I'd save a fooking fortune! I struggle to get 400 to a tank out of my M3 and the Golf hire car I had last week lmao
I put my expenses in today and in the last month it was £1630 and I was on holiday for a week of that and most of that is fuel!

just followin advice from well known subaru engine rebuilders Eclipse Performance - they reckon its possible to drag dirt from the very bottom of your fuel tank through the system and either block the in line fuel filter or worse damage an injector. So if its advice from them in the know then it makes sense to me. Doesnt cost anymore in real terms to keep the gauge over the quarter level anyways.
Theres a feature in total impreza issue 16 that covers it too
