Have finally put mine up for sale last night, trying GTR forum first which has attracted some interest, but not sure I want the hassle of Ebay, PH, Autotrader. Apart from outright lateral grip which is about 0.1g better than the S8 on a dry, smooth surface with good sight lines, I can't think of anything else the GTR does better as a road car, and having only done 100 miles a month it is time to sell.

Little congestion here, but tarmac is challenging in terms of undulations and surface. In performance terms the ZF 8 speed is an incredibly downshifter and the response/torque of dual twin scroll turbos with a direct injection V8 that easily surpasses the GTR. Brakes are equal but the GTR is frantic under heavy braking. Imagine an overtake with both in auto mode, the ZF can and will downshift from 8th to 2nd in one hit almost as quick as you can bury your foot and can make an obscene amount of torque but with stability and a better judged traction control. The GTR GR6 downshifts one at a time and then the torque hit makes it oversteer towards the car you are overtaking. It is interesting to read Evo's latest issue with RS7 review, which they pan compared with everything else after saying it is by far the quickest point to point, they say it is everything people think the GTR is but actually isn't (ie drives itself).

Certain cars are so competent now out of the crate compared to what was around as recently as 10 years ago that I'm inclined to think that tuning beyond what we like to call stage 1 is redundant.
Certainly as regards road use for even the least risk averse driver.

Car has performed rather well at Castle Combe and Thruxton.... the brake cooling especially! Could only partially fade the orange paint. Car is off to Sly soon, so will see what he says about it all, but have been hitting speeds above 150mph with no issues from the additional ducts
While the car is at Slys place (yes, again, from this weekend):-
-forge transmission cooler
-steering wheel sent off for retrimming
-manifold ported and painted
-parts to be dipped (new gear paddles, steering wheel piece)
-parts to be powder coated (manifold, brake cooling ducts) - crackle black similar to the forge coolant tank
-remove the bonnet popup system (Im starting to do more and more track days and cones are becoming a BIG worry)
Then once I am back from holiday, I will start looking for some nice 18" wheels to run as track wheels

Sold mine 4 weeks ago as well John, it's gone to a fellow Scooby owner but I was gutted to let it go. 3 years from new cost me £54 for the MOT and that was it (£500 service pack, Fuel, Insurance and Road Tax aside ), best car I have ever owned. 27% depreciation over those 3 years, you really can't ask for better than that!
We've got a baby due in June so taking a break from supercars till I have some more time. Going to get the Hawkeye finished off for track in the meantime. I'm hoping that a new GT-R is out in 2016/17 or I may look at the AWD C63S by then.

You did well on a newer car. I lost a third in nearly six years.
C63S or R36 could be good. For the GTR I would like to see its performance, traction in the wet, better ride and engine sound quality, refinement and interior leap ahead with a competitive transmission.

Aww you had the best colour too John.
The winter months have not been kind to the front bumper on mine. Will have to get it resprayed once the warmer/dryer weather comes.

Think they will do an AWD C63S I've not seen anything, certainly gain more of my interest should it be true....
Been speccing up the standard one and emailed my dealer saying I'm ready should he have a special lol...
Last time I was in he was trying the old shape or an E63 discounted by 10k plus more....

I reckon an X drive M3 would be awesome, if the AWD C63 really is coming I'm sure BMW will offer an AWD M car.
I love the new M3, it looks superb. I've always preferred the look of the saloon versions of performance cars but it's interesting to see the majority of people on M3 cutters favouring the look of the M3 over the M4. I've had to sacrifice a lot in recent years but I can't wait for the day I get my hands on one of the new breed of fast motors you boys play with!

Trouble is you get AWD and then just tune it until it spins all four wheels
I am finding my M3 needs much more accelerator pedal to unsettle the rear than the tuned GTR did but the turbo M3 is probably another matter from the reviews.

Had a fun day out at Donington last month getting use to the new setup. Unrestricted noise day so no black flags and sharing the track with some proper kit!

Collected the car at the weekend and really happy with what has been.
Forge gearbox cooler was fitted, so will see how that holds up
Forgot to take the engine bay photo, minor differences - engine cover removed and manifold has been powder coated black
Steering wheel retrim
Larger shift paddles
Dipping to match the dash

A shame that some have moved on, but some awesome cars out there, so enjoy the next purchase.
As for AWD cars, have a look at the Jag FType AWD v8 supercharger looks gorgeous and sounds................... LOVELY!!!

It's pretty noisy! Been black flagged at Silverstone 105db, set the 107db noise meters off at Spa too - good job Donington was unrestricted noise day
