Clare, as Burger says they are highly strung. In fact some can be very highly strung. Especially if it's an early generation. These are cats that have a closer genetic link to the Asian Leopard Cat (ALC) that was first used to create a hybrid that sparked the breed.

Most breeders supply what is known as an Stud Book Tradition (SBT) which is a domestic cat pure and simple. However some will supply an early generation (EG). Generally these are termed F1, F2, F3,F4, F5. After F5 it is accepted that this is the line where EG stops and SBT begins. However that's not to say you won't get a strange cat

An F1 is bread as follows, and ALC x Domestic Bengal = F1

F2 = F1 x Domestic

F3 = F2 x Domestic

and so on.

These were written by a chap who started a large breeding program. He's not well liked by the community and has since sold all his stock to Gayzette Bengals where I purchased Kora. Pauline and Frank are very good breeders and very experienced with exotics. You need a DWA license to keep ALCs which they have. As such they can supply EG cats. I'm really keen on buying one but the price puts me off sadly. They also have a Serval

Bengals are not cats you would want to jump in and buy. Some days I get no peace from Kora. If she's not howling her head off she's dropping her ball at my lap for a never ending game of fetch

Our Fearless Freddie is a Maine Coon cross we think, He is a pretty big cat and he has a small split in just one of his ears. He is a character alright.

My Blue Point Siamese. Been posted before, but he is not the easiest cat to take a picture of



And the cat we rescued before Christmas. He had been living rough on the farm and took us about 8 weeks to catch him. He was a nightmare at first but has turned into the most adorable pet, ever. Poor thing had been dumped. Some rotten folks in the world.
Vet thinks he has quite a bit of Maine Coon in him as he is quite big with a huge tail, but he is just our little rescue moggy.
Here he is with our GSD, his best pal.

 

I'd love a cat who played fetch. Harry almost had it, but he got bored too easily.....

Siamese looks huge!!! Our family cat Jess was a feral moggy kitten living on the family farm, my dad felt sorry for her and took her in but soon got bored of her, he then let my mum have the cat (known then as Cat) who was very reluctant. Anyway 18 years later Jess is very ill, she's stopped eating and the vet has diagnosed a heart murmur & thyroid problems. She's had 5 injections and the vet has told my parents not to bring her back.
They are force feeding her and can't stop crying because they feel she's going to die. Jess only weighs a couple of lbs bless her.

Aww, thanks Clare. He is soooo cute, but was a little swine until he settled. I don't think people realise, pets, when got rid of, do get upset. Took him an age to trust us, but it has been worth it and he is so bonny.


awwww, she is gorgeous Poor little thing.
We get so attached to our pets. My first cat, Dylan, had the same problems. He was 20. He died under the kitchen chair, with me stroking him. It broke my heart for days.

 

They won't, the vet has said she's in no pain but not eating won't be good for her sooner or later I can imagine, she's drinking now though and feeding from a syringe, even though my mam say's she hates it.

Just got off the phone from my Mum. The cat that was mine, that is now hers (if that makes sense!) is being put down tonight. She's 14 and a half and has a tumour on her spine right above her back legs so she cannot move and has become incontinent. Poor thing. Shame cos my parents lost their other cat about 2 months ago through an RTA, though he was pretty old and poorly too.

Pets are hard to lose aren't they?

Oh dear Matt, sorry to hear that. What a fantastic life she has had with everyone loving her and treating her as part of the family, focus on the positives of her life and the joy she has brought. Hard, I know, but you will never forget her as she is part of your history. It's a shame cats and dogs don't live as long as us, then we wouldn't have to go through this so often.

My mum said Scully didn't want to go to the vets to be put down, she fought to the end as they had to sedate her to give her the injection. Quite traumatic by all accounts, but she's not in pain any longer, so that's all we can think of. She said she won't have any more pets now, but we'll see how long that lasts. There are plenty of cats who need homes and my mum will not be able to resist I reckon....
