Cats v Dogs

Post your pet pics.

My kitten Arwen at 10 months old. One of 3 cats we have. She's 14 months now.

We have a 5 month old male Maine Coon kitten who is the same weight as Arwen  They are both only 8lbs at the mo but the male could easily exceed 20lbs.

Do you let them out? I'd love one but I know many owners keep them in in case of theft or becoming road kill.

We got 2 pikey jobs from the local rescue centre - Bishop and Ripley :)

In our house we have...

1 black and tan King Charles Cavalier
1 Bleniem King Charles cavalier (white and tan)
1 black pomerainian
1 white and black ****zui (sh1tzoo if the swear filter catches it)
1 big white cat (or he may be a polar bear)
1 black cat, she is a something or other blue breed
1 long haired black cat
1 small black cat with only one eye, and she had just had 2 grey and brown stripey kittens last weekend

so we have a houseful :D

Nope they are indoor only, at £400 they should be! I hope to get an house with a garden one day so I can get them a large cage run. We actually paid £550 for the female as we bought her to breed.

Thanks, they keep me busy :D

My husband doesn't agree that he's cute. Harry only loves me because I feed him, so he's only jealous ;)

Cats don't have owners, they have slaves :lol1:

Clarebabes 18 May 2011 10:11 PM

Very true. Better go and make sure his every need is fulfilled :)

Is he grumpy? Our Blue doesn't sit on laps or ever do strokes for more than 20 seconds. She hates the other 2 cats.

Yep, like small dogs! :thumb: He's was around 16lb when last weighed. That was after a bout of illness though. His frame is huge!

RS_Matt 19 May 2011 12:26 AM

He's not similar to Krum then!! He's only just under 8lbs, he went to 6½ after the female Maine Coon bit him causing infection :( He's shook it off though after 3 trips to the vets, then the week after he had his balls chopped off!

Poor boy! Magic was 5kg then went up. No idea what he is now though. Might get him health checked. I'd guess he's hovering at the 16lb mark or so.

Clarebabes 19 May 2011 10:28 AM

I wanted a Bengal before we got Harry. Lovely cats, but very expensive. I fancy a Main Coon or a Norwegian Forest Cat if Harry goes.... You know they have rescue places dedicated to these fellas, so often you don't need to buy "brand new" :)

Clarebabes 19 May 2011 10:30 AM

P.s. what characteristics do Bengals have behaviour wise which might be different to a normal moggie? Harry is a Birtish Blue and they have a set of characteristics for the breed which I could tick off for him.

He can be, and when he was younger he was grumpier than he is now. He loves me a lot! He sits on my lap every evening - well, for a while until I stroke him too much - but he could stay there all night if I left him alone. He likes to be with me, so if I'm in the garden he'll be around somewhere. He sleeps on our bed at night and sometimes tries to get in between Dave and I at shoulder level. The duvet disappears between us when he does that!! He hates my daughter, avoids her like the plague due to her mishandling of him.

Oh, and he doesn't hate other cats because he sits there and lets them come through the cat flap and eat his food. :( He's a bit of a wuss. :)

BurgerKing 19 May 2011 10:42 AM

Bengals don't seem to be as friendly as some other breeds, they won't attack you or anything like that but don't expect a clingy lap-cat. Ours doesn't have a fascination with water but I believe many Bengals are obsessed with it and will jump in the shower given half a chance.

Compared with our 2 Burmese boys, her personality couldn't be more different. She's a lot more highly strung and vocal.
