More doom and gloom for UK retailers?

Retailers like Comet and Currys haven't cottoned on to the fact that its all down to price now.
They haven't had decent customer service for years so rely on convenience alone, I was looking for a cooker two months ago and the same model was £160 cheaper in Bestbuy, I also felt far less pressured there too.

People are maybe becomming more thoughtful in where to spend the money they have. It's not necessarily that they are unwilling to spend at all.
The internet must have had a massive impact on sales for certain stores as a little hunting about and you get the same thing for far less than in stores (even their online ones), and it saves people even leaving their homes. But I would also imagine that at least some people have become more willing to enter stores they may not have done in the past if they feel they can get the same or similar products at a lesser price. That to me isn't a total loss of confidence, it's just being more sensible.
Perhaps if we had been more savvy in the past (myself totally included), we may not have got to such a point. Certain retailers would have had to become more competitive/cut costs and maybe they would have faired better.

This is a valid point, and does this to some extent not prove that it isn't all down to 'confidence' as such. Or even, if you will, confidence is only being lost in certain areas.

That can't be put down to a lack of consumer confidence, it's just that people are no longer willing to feed the fat cats and their oversized pockets. Instead choosing to spend elsewhere.
If people had been more willing to does this before, like Lisa said, maybe there would have been more competition for the best deal.
