I've just ordered a nearly new Fiesta S1600 and for £115 tax a year, it's not so bad. I was surprised it was so cheap!
Of course, cycling causes less CO2 than driving, so I will stick to that too for a while. I cycle for 2 reasons: fitness and petrol costs

The BMW 520d looks pretty good ..... but, 37mpg isn't quite up there with the Honda's 55mpg.
I would want the Touring - if they do one. Also, the BMW has limited cubby storage and the steering wheel rim is unnaturally thick. What’s more, there’s nowhere to put the key – and as you need to plip the fob to get in (the car has keyless start, but not entry), this is irritating. Another gripe is revealed as you try to pull away, because the electronic handbrake doesn’t release automatically, like most rival systems
The BMW's run-flat tyres are an absolute turn-off ... as is the fact that it is £10,000 - yes!! £10,000 MORE than the Honda for less equipment!!! That's not worth the Road Tax saving - is it?

Our 520d with 19" wheels returned 53mpg on a recent trip to Edinburgh from Nottingham
And all for £115 a year tax.
Conversely, my old 911 Turbo 3.6 was £245 per year and my Exige 1.8 is also £245 per year.

I liked my Fiat, nothing wrong with them and in fact are the same car as the Ford KA - did you know that? I didn't! Actually, I might have even got one of the special edition KAs rather than the 500, as they came out slightly cheaper. (KA Grand Prix = £10,995 with the bluetooth, whereas 500 = £11,065.)
Resale value of my car has been brilliant though, I bought it for £9,050 when it was 3 months old and have p/ex value of £6,200, even more if I'd bought another Fiat and if I could be bothered, even more private. I would recommend them.

My 16 year old MX5 is well over £200 .... yet my new Honda Civic Type S GT is £115 - potty!!
But, at least I'm not being asked to pay the £465 I would have been had I bought the STi.
