Most Breitlings can be hand wound as they use the ETA/Valjoux movements. Namely the 7750 or 2892 but both have hack and wind facility.

 

Yep. My Chronomat can also be wound and needs it too, as i really only wear it at the weekends.

I found out VIA the Breitling forums, that you should really only wind it 30 full revolutions, though i can't remember why they say that. I find that's always been enough to get it started and together with the moving about, it'll last about a week.

 

Most say 40 complete turns of the crown to start the watch from totally unwound.

 

The manual says 40 turns too.

When I bought my Bretling the Jeweller told me to wind it up 40 times put not full repetitions i.e roll the crown back and fourth. Is this correct?

 

Have you had it regularly serviced? If so, you might be able to claim they pay towards the costs as it should work fine between services. If not, then you could be in for a big bill.

The other alternative is to get it a service. Dependant on model, your looking at a couple hundred quid anyway. They might fix the fault in the service. If not, then take it back and claim it worked fine before the service !!!

TBH I won't be having mine (Navitimer world) serviced every 2 years as recommended. My last bill was nearly £300.

1.my very old but unserviced Omega runs really well and pretty accurate

2.My new automatic doesn't last very long on reserve

3.My japanese cheapo auto is both phenomanally accurate and lasts a week or longer without being worn.Brilliant! Nice one seiko/pulsar you might not look as sexy as the swiss ones but you genuinely are a better watchmaker!

funny thing is,I stumbled across 'Grand' Seiko

Look exactly the same as a normal seiko watch but cost about £5k
