Just to allay some of your fears for me.... (as IF you had any! )
Just been to have a look at a Scura - once I'm in it there's more room than in my Porsche with my son sitting behind me and the carbon seats, whilst ultra thin, were very comfy.

Yes, fit and finish is not the best but I don't mind that anymore (my Porsche can creak with the best of them).
I couldn't get a drive today as the salesman was on his own but I'll be in it next week.
If I go for it then it will most definitely been seeing some track work this year!
As for costs and repairs - the engine is a Toyota with a supercharger on it so not much to go wrong.
It's not like the old K-series and head gaskets anymore...
That, and the 2 year warranty they'll give me.
Both cars I'm looking at have 2bular exhausts on and sound sublime for a Jap 4 pot engine .

I took this one for a test drive a month or so ago
http://www.lotussilverstone.co.uk/us...d-Touring-Pack
My thoughts/opinions;
Good bits:
Looks great.
Handles very well as expected.
Suprised me how refined it was on the road.
Reasonable running costs.
Comfortable once inside.
Bad bits:
Nightmare to get in and out of but it would improve with practice.
Picked up all the grooves, bumps, potholes etc on our excellent quality roads.
Not as quick as I expected. Yes it pulls well throughout the rev range but didn't give me that friday feeling.
Not a relaxing drive if you fancy a chilled out drive for a change instead of a blast.
In the end I didn't go for it due to its daily driving compromises. It would of been my only car for a while and I just couldn't handle those compromises on a day to day basis.
Very good car and does exactly what you expect from a no compromise road car. Just a bit extreme for my needs at the time. If I was lucky enough for it to be my 3 car than I might be tempted .

Right, just been on a drive of the 240bhp.
It's small, noisy, hot without the a/c on, firm, has no power steering, the stereo isn't great, no sat nav, your passenger rubs shoulders with you, manual mirrors and can't see out the back.
I absolutely loved it.
When it hits just 40 mph you can feel the car sucking to the tarmac - the downforce is that great.
The steering is so precise, the noise from the intercooler just inches behind your head and the exhaust note (2Bular fitted) is just intoxicating!
The AP 4-pots make you press your nose to the windscreen (much better than the Porsche brakes).
Journeys of more than a few hours would need a leg-stretch stop but that's no big deal.
There's no way I could live with it on a daily basis, but as a 3rd car?
100% yes.
Just need to get over the guilt of not being able to take both kids.
Time for some man maths...

Many four pot petrols are good units and of course lightweight too - a six pot or more on an Exige would be utterly stupid.
Any options available or are you going for the full hardcore stripped spec?
Imagine satnav on an Exige

It's a year old ex demo plus one owner (who did a total of 200, that's 200 miles!)
It's done 2100 miles.
Dealer specced it with sport pack and performance pack.
These give it adjustable TC, launch control, harness compatible bucket seats and harness bar, bigger full length roof scoop, different ecu and a few engine upgrades.
They also fitted remote reservoir Ohlin adjustable dampers, (£3k) and an adjustable front ARB.
Front AP Racing brakes are also fitted and are way better then the Porsche 4 pots.
The exterior is in Burnt Orange which was a £2k option and the interior has orange stitching on the leather and orange highlights in the seats.
The only luxuries it comes with is A/C, leccy windows and an iPod lead on the crap stereo.
Oh, it's got some floor mats too

It's like making something totally unpractical and expensive, but what you really want, to work.
And getting it past the missus by telling her just how practical it really could be... thus getting the green light, or in my case the 'Oh, just do as you want - you usually do...'

Oh yes I see.
It's a way of life for me
