Almost as if the designer kept having new ideas during the design process but not once did he stop, sit back and look at what was on the drawing board.
Classic Type R or Blobeye RA is where it was at.
Impreza's never were fantastic in the styling department, but at least the above car's looked right from every angle.
My 3 year plan includes purchasing a very tasty type r to fill my garage. Something for the weekend!
Can you see that with the new hatch? I think not.

Owned numerous scoobs in my time, 2x 1999 classic, 2000 JDM and a 2007 WRX.
Went out for a drive in December and have now have the 2011 STi for over 2 months.
The best car I have driven for a long time [with the exception of my mates Caterham].
I went for the Spec R with Recaro seats. Subaru have lost the plot and have yo-yo'd since the bugeye. But they have restored some faith. Some may say that it's a styling disaster but it's a lot less boring than a Mazda MPS FFS .
Here goes [ready to be flamed ]

I have a few issues with it, namely the hard plastics and the Itelligent mode which in reality needs removing.
However, I have now resorted to taking an hour drive to pick up a pint of milk [again]. A feeling I haven't had since owning a classic.
In fairness and IMHO after the classic styling was gash or too straightlaced. The only other Scoobs I'd have in my garage would br RA, RB5, 22B [naturally] and the P1.

Agreed. I have never seen a car with more angles than the new impreza.

The saloon is an improvement, but the back looks too much like a Toyota Avensis, whilst the front still looks too much like a Rover 25 or a Proton.
Sorry - it's not the best likeness but I couldn't resist....
I think it looks fairly aggressive from the back and front (although I hate that new scoop and the bumper is just too OTT in terms of chunkiness), but the side is terrible - hideously flat doors with random angles further down.
The first photo you posted there I thought - hmm, maybe not so bad, but then you get to the side on and go eck .
Sorry mate, still not a fan - BUT glad you're enjoying it
P.S. I do like that new STI rear spoiler though
