Is Subaru Going Soft....
My neighbour has bought a brand new wrx sti Impreza which is very nice but........I think its a little subtle for a Scooby.
I was looking on here at some Scoobies old and new and honestly believe that the newer the model the more soft they have become. Don't get me wrong, there are some stunning modified new shape examples around but out of the factory I think they're looking to much like the average 5 door family car. I know Im probably gonna get raped for saying it but its just my humble opinion! |
true. saw a new sti in the showroom the other day. would suit a "legacy" name badge very well, as it looks completely understated. but where are the crazy spoilers we all know and love?! haha
|
Yup, take away the spoilers and it just looks like any other small family car!
|
They appeal to a wider audience with more subtle looks I suppose.
|
Depends which model STi
The Hatch looks better than the Saloon Looked at a dark metallic grey hatch STi in Stan Palmers and it is anything but soft or subtle :cool: |

I think the American market gets the spoiler as standard.

I've never driven one but aren't they more accessible to the average Driver?

They've taken what was previously a fairly raw car (certainly in classic form), and made it look more like a Mondeo inside and out. The handling is apparently much better than the outgoing hatch version, and it certainly looks a lot better, but again they've been too restrained. Don't get me wrong, the Mondeo is a good value car, but being a comfy business car that doesn't stand out from the crowd isn't really what an Impreza is or ever has been about. Those who wanted a toned down version in terms of looks had the spec D versions to choose from. I don't see why Subaru have seen fit to try and dull down the very car which is such a big part of their brand to many people. They have the Legacy and Forester (again both good cars - just not Impreza quick) for those who want to be a little more sensible. So what exactly are they doing....:wonder::wonder::wonder: |
As far as i know the spoiler for the new saloon is an option or thats what the Peterborough sales team said, looks far better with a spoiler,

In terms of price - no!

So in 1994 the Turbo 2000 looked like a cutting edge car?

In answer to the question, no I don't think so. Just because they don't have massive spoilers or gold wheels (although you can still get these if you want) doesn't mean they're soft. They're still a great drive, even better with a few tweaks from Litchfields. They're not pretty but still have presence and look really cool in my opinion, certainly wouldn't swap one for a focus or golf.
|
I think I would definitely have one, although it would have to be a saloon with a spoiler.

Even looking at the latest Impreza.. I can't see what they're trying to do.. looks horrendous. The looks stopped at Hawkeye in my opinion. |
And unfortunately the looks started with the EVO 10 :(
I think I read somewhere the looks of the new scoob were to do with Subaru getting back to their Nakajima roots as far as styling goes. |

http://www.visionale.net/wp-content/...u-impreza-.jpg http://www.visionale.net/wp-content/...impreza--2.jpg I think the hatch is hideous, but that saloon is not too bad. Probably something to do with distancing the product from the whole 'hot hatch' thing. |
Everytime a new Impreza comes out everyone always says it's hideous. You then learn to love after you see one with a couple of mods!

Having had in the past, a turbo 2000, a P1, and a much modded Forester.
