Every single £33,450 car should have Sat.Nav. - so, that's not special ...... would you notice 20BHP on top of 300? Nah ........

It has nothing to entice the canny buyer!

Yes, change gear

But at the end of the day you only have so many gears to trundle from 2,000rpm to 4,000rpm
In an STI, you'd have a powerband of double that.

If changing gear quickly and plenty is a challenge to you may I suggest an Automatic?

And yes, of course, we must not forget the Engine destruction issues ... oh, dear.

Just priced up a 1.8 Civic with sensible options, 18" alloys, body kit etc to atleast bring it close to an STI, 28.5k for something that are two a penny, wow!

WOW!!

That's good news for me ..... my superior diesel version cost less than £18,000 - that means I may have had zero depreciation in 12 months!!!

Bloody hell, I just keep on winning!!

PSLewis, you really don't get it, do you?

We (collective scooby owners) don't buy these cars to worry about depreciation or buy as an investment because were generally adrenaline junkies and motor heads and the Impreza classic or Newage satisfy those needs & requirements .

I've had non sensible moments and bought so-called sensible cars & within weeks I've then sold them because like your Diesel burning Civic they were BORING.

You say who spend £33k on a performance car, well who would spend £100k to £750k on a performance car, car enthusiasts would and believe it or not are still doing so.

But I can understand why you need a civic and from your previous posts your not rich and your getting on in life so your choice of car is also the safest as a performance vehicle in the hands of someone who cannot handle that performance is a dangerous weapon & I can understand with the cost of petrol it's a case for you of either filling the car up or having food on the table, so be it.

But for most of us here those choices that are forced upon you to make, or not ours, so SHUT UP as your arguments are meaningless to us, if fuel is £2 per litre well so be it, I'll still be on the road but hopefully yourself and all those other fools cluttering up the road getting in my way will be priced off of it

I take it you haven't actually paid Subaru £33,450 for their STi offering?

Therefore:-

1. You don't think it is worth it.

OR

2. You cannot afford it.

Which is it?

If mr.lewis is having a pissing contest on economy, ive got a car that does 50mpg, 350 miles to a tank for £40 and costs me £30 a year to tax it. It also cost half of what your civic costs and is quite fun. Especially against performance cars around bends in lanes, though its like a slug on the straight.

Ive got my scoob coz its fun no matter if Im on the straight or bends. It costs me £440 to tax it a year and over £70 to fill it. I can still get 300 to the tank off boost, but its much more fun giving it some welly.

I agree with everything BlobEyedRex says too. Its like saying "My 1 bedroom flat is better than your 3 bedroom house coz its cheaper to run and does exactly the same thing, it goes nowhere" lol.

PSLoosis,
You sold your wrx, had a look around at all your options and settled on a civic. AND????? Whats the big deal? You made a decision? Wow! You like your car, Wow! Go and shout about it on the civic forums, we're not interested.

The empty can really does rattle the most and you are certainly it, yes, sometimes you are quite witty and funny for your alleged age,but for the most part you're a first class dick.

Move on and stop trolling

No it's not ... it's like saying, "My 5 bedroomed mansion is better than your 5 bedroomed mansion, because my mansion is built by a master builder and yours is built by Barratts!! Also, your Barratt balsawood mansion is £1,000,000 and costs £500,000 a year to run - mine is for sale at £600,000 and costs £5,000 a year to run"

Yes, granted, yours has brighter curtains ..... but, most people will still choose mine

I didn't want this to get onto the Honda Civic and it's overwhelming appeal ..... what it is about is 'Is the Impreza STi worth £33,450?' - even with the Special Edition 320R?

The Civic was used, I guess, as a Governor - a balancing item of superior quality, yet about half the price.

If thats all your asking then YES, it is worth it.

If everyone else posts "yes or no" then perhaps this thread will die a death and we can argue about something else

Face facts .. whatever I post will go to many pages and thousands of views .. it is as certain as night follows day - so, we may as well argue over the car which brought us here together

You say it is worth it - why haven't you bought one?

The price is £33,450 by the way!

Yes, a poll would be good - it will, of course, be answered by those who are not prepared to buy one ..... because it's too expensive - but will still post that it's worth it!

Anything is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. So in that case, yes, the sti is worth it to some people as some have been sold. How many have been sold is a totally different argument.
We are all individuals with different tastes but no matter how cheap a civic would be i would never personally buy one as i think they look ****.

True ... but, more to the point, who (like me) wanted to buy one - desperately wanted to - but didn't ..... because it no longer lives up to what a Subaru should be? Value performance and practical motoring.

Those people have bought elsewhere because there are better options - of course, not many will have looked at the Honda - but did look and buy plenty of the other options.

As mentioned in my earlier posts about car enthusiasts, I fall into that category and for me I buy cars which mean something to me, not because their trinkets to wear or to impress others or have to have the latest thing even if I can afford it.

I have some great memories of the Blobeye being driven by Petter Solberg and others and I love the way it looks and is a car that's on my must own & modify in my lifetime list.

I'll be 41 in july, but retired back in 2009 and in that time, many of my friends go on about why I don't buy flashier cars and as i tell them it's simple, I only buy something and especially true with cars that has meaning to me, I've worked with some of the richest people on this earth and especially while out in the middle east, these guys bought and owned cars not because they really liked them or even wanted to drive them but they just saw it as an investment and for me that's wrong.

while my colleagues out in the middle east all went out and bought Porches, I got myself a brand new Mustang S197 and modified the hell out of it (580 RWHP) and why because again owning and modifying an American muscle car was on my list and I loved the retro look of this car.

If the 2011 was on my wanted list & could well be in the future then I'll buy one and as for what it would cost, I couldn't care less, a friend of mine bought one of those AMG 63 blacks and as soon as he took it off the forecourt he apparently lost 20k, but did he care NO, because again he wanted that car because of what it was.

PSLoosis,
When has a subaru impreza turbo ever been regarded as being that of value performance & practical motoring? You are losing your marbles you doddery old git.

I've gone from a classic to a bug and now to a hawk sti, each one better than the previous version IMHO (which is all that counts at the end of the day) Have i come on here bleating on about my purchase, no, but you, bloody hell man, you made a decision, (the wrong one, otherwise you wouldn't be on here trying to convince yourself that you'd made the right decision) bought a different car and are now trying to convince everybody how great your choice is. WE ARE NOT INTERESTED. I've got a spare tufty badge in the loft, i'll give you that for your great decision making abilities if it means you'll bugger off.

If euthanasia is ever legalised, you're screwed.

Sorry, again you forgot "IMO", because IMO the Impreza IS the better road car (Interior, Exterior, whatever you want). This is called "personal preference".

So true. I say this to you, pslewis: you can continue to thrash at your keyboard in your grotty old man dressing gown and p*ss stained slippers but I, for one, will not be helping you keep this lame thread alive any longer.

That is a lovely example of the Classic Quattro, when you watch the old group b vids and hear that 20V 5 Cylinder rip snorting its way through the forests! You never forget it The s1 is the beastie! Shorter wheel base and they also did an evolution version too with around 500bhp!
