I unfortunately have a low-life cousin who is now 38 but not worked since he was 18. He now has 4 kids (latest just recently) paid for by you and me. I wish the Dss had told him that if he chose to have kids he couldnt afford to look after himself then tough, as you're not getting a penny.

Obviously, i understand that people lose jobs, split-up etc but iam talking about the situations where they start families when they're unemployed or on too low an income to raise kids, expecting us to pick up the bill!

Are people on about income support or working tax here.I worked and paid tax for 25 years and never claimed a penny. In that time we had kids and 18 months ago i lost my job through no fault of my own,so we claimed working tax until i got back in work, ive bought my own house and paid my way throughout my life,im guessing the critics of dont have them if you cant pay wont claim if the same thing happens to them.

I am talking about family tax credit, however some people on here only have to see the word benefits and assume people are scroungers who can't afford to bring up their children without government assistance.

Not once have I been given handouts, or relied on anyone other than my partner and he has managed to privede for us, pay a mortgage and run two cars for the last four years.
So your partner works. Why should he pay less Tax than me?

You chose to have children. You chose to give up work. Why should I pay more tax so you don't have to?

Who said he pays less tax than you?

I don't even know how much you earn.

I suppose you mean the 'tax relief' type of thing because I popped out some sprogs?

Oh right , mine might then.

Sadly we rely on the "handouts" due to the economy going **** up , I'm down 10k compared to my last year final earnings.

Yes. He well may pay the same Tax. But he then will get Tax credit back, so overall he will pay less Tax than a single man earning the exact same wage.

Is that fair?????????

I suspect she does, the idea is a bit of help for parents, no way do any governmental handouts "Pay" for kids, we spend 30 grand a year on schooling ours, is that paying enough ?

Why should there be help for parents? They choose to have children.

Sending you kids to private education? Again, your choice. But why should you get Tax credit? Why do you deserve that?

Maybe not, but I would rather our own families got a bit of help from the Government, than the amount of benefits given to immigrants. Now that really tips me over the edge

Not just him (us, a family) but every other family.

The money is not the issue here, like has been said, it is only a small amount, but it is the fact that this type of thing was in place to encourage working parents to do just that... Go to work.
Now it seems that being a sponge, sitting at home and doing NOTHING, and claiming EVERYTHING from the government is a much easier option.
Let's face it, it has become a choice. People choose to rely in the government to house them, pay their bills, feed their children at school and for what? So they can sit at home and do nothing?

Yet me who was already getting the bare minimum of ALL tax credits and has contributed for 12 years and my partner for 17 now gets bugger all!

You say you choose not to have children, but I assume if you did happen to father a child you would take what was owed you by the government? Or would you be possibly one of the only people who would say no thanks?

Yep. I got a spine point rise that gave me 40 quid this month, but the NI rise and the tax credit loss more than wiped it out.

Your choice to pay that. Fair play for deciding to give your kids that cance through your hard work. I'm sure those complaining their little extra has been cut will still spend on beers, cigs, wine etc for themselves.

The 'sponge' is been hit as well but that's going to take time unfortunately as they are less responsible than you or other people who have dignity. They have no shame and will play the system for all it's worth so it's a bit more complicated to remove al lot of their money while not falling victim to all this human rights bull****.

despite working fulltime with 3 kids we are only £72.00quid a month better off than on the social . its the system thats wrong , i had it explained to me as a train , up front there are people in 1st class who dont pay for thier ticket because its paid for us the taxpayer (mp,s) they share with buisness people who put the cost through expences . these tickets make up about 10-12% . then there is 2nd class people daft enough to carry on working for a living . and pay through the nose for thier tickets . then there is 3rd class totally free , with free drinks and wi fi and telephone thrown in for good measure , all things we have to pay for . TO SUM UP THERE ARE TO MANY PASSENGERS ON THE PLATFORM OF LIFE , both at the bottom and top only problem is THEY VOTE and dont the goverment know it
