As I have said many times on here the press love to stir up a bit of racial hatred especially against Muslims. Got told I was talking rubbish by the usual suspects I seem to remember, but here is yet more evidence!!!
As for reposting this story.... did we really need to discuss it again???![Whatever Anim](images/smilies/Whatever_anim.gif)

Is this article stirring up hatred of Islam and its fundamental adherents? How do you suggest this story should be written so as not to 'stir-up'?

Silly pastor in Florida burns a Koran. Afghani men behead United Nations workers. How does that make you feel?

Islam isn't a race, it is a religion, it has nothing to do with genetics.

In the bacon one, it wasn't really. The bloke was annoyed by the smell, apparently his friends didn't like it too, but the slant was 'Muslims were offended'.
Perhaps fivetide is right here, the guy made it the issue in the hope it would strengthen his arguement, in that case I personally think he's a bit of a dick for taking advantage of his mates like that, and being responsible for more bad feeling towards them. All that aside, the papers were happy to report it in a certain manner, and I am sure they knew exactly what they were doing.
If the word Muslim hadn't factored in, I very much doubt the story would've been posted on here, twice now. I probably wouldn't have been as big a story in the papers either.

There is little point discussing this as you have your views and I have mine. It will simply end in the usual bunfight that always happens when you try and pursue your agenda.
It has also been done to death before even down to the actual story on the thread so just leave it. We don't need any more of this crap in NSR!! Get back to your Libya thread and your new friend the RTM button!

So they mob can only get its catharsis from political theater...railing against koran burnings etc, or Israel....or worse still actual violence.
The Greeks were more advanced.

Much of it is barren culturally. It's half the problem....a lack of culture as in arts, leanings, music, novels, theater etc. Their is only Islam and that does not innovate and bans anything else.

Deleted my post, as it's just not worth the hassle (and wasn't stricly on topic). I'm starting to learn that when people have an idea in their head, there is very little chance of you changing it, even with the clearest logic and reason. I should probably just keep these things to myself. It's not as if I'm suddenly going to make a difference just by saying them.

There is a difference between reporting a story where the Muslim element is relevant to the story.
Point is the public are very conscious of Islam and make of that what you will. You could dismiss it as 'Islamophabia' and say the British public are bigots (like F1 does) or it could be another reason.

As a cultural artifact you have to see it as more than that.

Nobody needs to do to death the subject of Islam again on this thread. The fact is, the Muslim element was irrelevant to the story being discussed.
Do you agree it was irrelevant in this case?

Well, whilst it's not racism, it is dishonest, biased journalism. And whilst it's not 'the press' per se, it can indeed be cited as 'yet more evidence' by people with an anti-west agenda. The Daily Mail propagates ignorance on both sides of the debate.

It's about having the courage of your convictions, isn't it? If you think or feel that you may be subjected to abuse and slander owing to your worldview and subsequently shy away from expressing it, you aquiesce to veiled censorship and allow the view of the censor to dominate.
Besides, it was nothing to do with bacon.

Lol, not at all. It's that knowledge that posting something somewhere on an internet forum, possibly just in opposition to a few people, isn't going to make a difference to my life or the rest of the world. In other words, it's pointless. I would certainly have the courage if confronted or had others' ideas imposed on me; but, as it stands, on this Friday night, that isn't the case.

Trout didn't seem to be talking about 'presentation' but facts in the OP.
As with any story the focus tend to be on what is relevant or of interest. In the current political climate of Islamic terrorism and the Islamification going on in the UK it is unsurprising such a stance was taken.

What rubbish are you talking now? Since when did you become a fully paid up member of the Stern Gang?
What Islamification? What about the current political climate of Islamophobia, usually stirred up by you?

How about the increasing numbers of mosques being being?
The incorporation of Islamic law into civil law.
The increase in Islamic faith schools.

Anyway this thread has gone way off topic, should be closed, with some of the priceless utterings of the usual demented people recorded for posterity (and for future quoting back at them)
