LCD is better, FACT!
the picture is just so much more crisp and clear.
I watched the sorcerers apprentice on blu-ray on the sony using my sony blu-ray player before we took it back (it was a speaker fault not picture), and im just playing it on the new lcd tv and its 20 or 30 times better/clearer.

I have a one year old Viera LCD and my Plasma Viera was just under 3 yrs old when i decided to can it.. Technology moves on... and unless you buy a new TV every 6 months you will never be at the front of technology and picture management..
So like many consumers,i look at the market WHEN i need a new TV... Currently,as it stands LCD/LED offers superb picture quality at affordable pricing...
BTW...Where do you work,im in the Hi end audio/AV line myself..
This was the problem with my 3yr old Viera(banding),which was the reason i decided to sh!tcan it...

I'll PM you where I work, our company doesn't do what i'd class as high end gear, we do the entry to midrange effort.

they are generally quite bulky. I suggest having a look around for some L-shaped HDMI leads etc. if you are intending to go tight to the wall.

i didnt listen to much of the hog wash the salesman told me in bennets before i bought my led lg but what i did pick up on is the LG led has full back lit led and the samsung has only perimeter backlight( so it is only led lit round the edge) , hence a brighter picture from the LG
a mate who just had his plasma break on him has just replaced it with another samsung plasma today. And i just dont get the attraction with plasma at all the picture just looks dull

Dull, or realistic and life-like instead of artificially bright and colourful When I watch LCD/LED sets I know I'm watching a TV, but with a plasme I feel I could be looking out of a window. Subtlety is usually better in the long run.

Im sorry guys, but there is some complete gash being talked here..
No way does a plasma seem as though your "looking out of a window"....Well not unless you have cateracts or your windows are filthy..
I nominate that the only people that can post on this thread are people that have actually owned/or presently own all style of TV's we are discussing..
All you instant experts who have walked through Comet/Dixons/Argos for 5 mins with your screaming kids in tow can do one...

With LCD IMO, a subtle setup isn't the one you start with after you've just taken it out of the box.
Historically, people have thought Plasma as "bright" and LCD as "muted". (Maybe going back a few years here...). So maybe now the boot's swapped feet for marketing purposes?
IMO LCD has a better chance of working well but assuming a capable display, what makes the difference these days is the quality of the source and the capabilities of the electronics and controls. Whether normally accessible or via some secret menu.

I don't need to own all three to have a valid opinion as it's my job to work on all these tv's an set them up and I still see the old pioneer plasma out do all the latest LCD's and LED's televisions.

Which is why the day my 5 year old 43' pioneer with its pub talk busting 3000.1 contrast ratio keels over, you'll find me crying like a baby!
