Steven,

No problem with some passenger laps in the EVO. I think we took out 12 people by the end of the day. 2 full tanks of petrol, the last tank lasted 1 hour when we done a roll on roll off system to get through as many people as possible. The brakes lasted very well, my Scooby would never have managed that.

Sam, we were running with the Apexi kit set at only 1.1bar to match what the timing and fueling was set at. It's capable of running at 1.3bar, so there should be more to come. And with a set of slicks. Lovely, maybe next time.

David

i dont recall one of them being that much faster than the other to be honest.

I know that one lost its bumper tho.

From the sidelines did anyone notice if it was faster than the white evo 6 up the straight cos the p1 i was behind seemed similar to dave reids evo 6, well both of them seemed very similar, i dont recall any p1 being a bullet or anything.

interested... wonder how much that front bumper will cost!!!! *googleeyes* ( but i dont know the code )

One of the P1s arrived at the circuit with a damaged front bumper. This incident happened at 5mph on the guys drive when covered in snow and ice, and involved a hedge

He already knows how much the replacement will be, and it's on order form his dealers.

It probably was slightly faster than the others, as it has a full de-cat exhaust (FPC), uprated brakes, and a committed driver. he probably had it quite sideways around the bottom part of the track

He had a great day out

Cool

John,
That sounds like Paul Marshall to me, he is the brother of a Cossie owning mate who lives just up the road (how many P1s with damaged bumpers at Knockhill can there be... ?). I heard about his little ding, his brother said something about Scooby owners not being able to drive...

cheers, i watched u go up the 1/4 at crail, you started very well, one of the best launches/launchers there was there. The on the spot donoughts were good aswell Cheers for the positive comments on the shed

Sam,

1/4 mile? i thought u subaru lads were anti bufty straightline driving? if u admit to lapping the same as reid's evo then u must have been lapping slower than my rst as i was being seriously held up by the evo

ive never driven any other circuit than knockhill and even that only a couple of times. As i said im off round the world with my fiance so i wont be able to afford to do any more trackdays unfortunatly, as for 1/4 mile the lowest i recon i could get is a 14 dead. my record at the moment ( 2 years ago ) 14.51.

Sam, i watched u go out the back quite a few times so just keep dreaming...

come up with a lap time yet???? didnt think so

rw

hahah

ps passenger seats all round next time were on the circuits chaps

stop your dillusions !! you had to let me pass you because I AM QUICKER. so stop acting as if it did not happen
did i or did i not pass you ?

"rest my case your hounor "

i won't be good at the 1/4 mile i will probably need to learn few things of david first but the car is good enough to do well. but even that is not an excuse and i will beat you anyway.

so i take it you overtook david reids Evo VI then ?

david brown

actually i would not mind taking part in 1/4 mile dashes how is you clutch coping ? probably turn up with scot ( sliver evo with the white 18" slicks ).

Firstly sam, ill point u in the direction of the "THREE SMILEYS" at the end of my message u are refering to, i was just pulling yer leg. jest joke banter windup etc

Yep u passed me when i pulled over to let you... i know what your saying tho... how can u be behind me unless u were faster. Is what your saying. Traffic, for instance catching up the coupe after the straight and having to follow it till the back straight or even up to the hairpin can lose 6 seconds a lap, allowing cars to catch up. Thats realistic.

I understand. My honest opinion is this, i was getting away from u a little bit up the straight ( about .5 car lengths ) a wee bit thru the dip into the chicane a wee bit coming out of the corner after the chicane and then u would catch me up no bother on braking coming into the hair pin. Then we would race up the straight pretty much head on head.

Is that fair?

I asked for a lap time? whatever u quote ill agree with.

Tho i did have a mate timing your car so im watching you hahahaha

as for dave reids evo, yep i passed it under power, not under him pulling over. Though i had to kinda push it to get thru as my car was not really faster, it was just that i could come out of the chicane faster and get alongside and maybe a 1cm infront! (just)

As for the 1/4 mile, i dont think thats much to be proud of and i didnt think u would think it was either.

Hey look im at 5 thousand rpm, the lights have gone green ive released the clutch and im pinging off the line 4x4 doing the business.

ill change gear a couple of times at about 6500 rpm.

woosh great time.

thats about how hard it would be to beat my rst. Its been done a dozen times to me by 4x4 cars.

anyhows its all speculation unless we have laptimes or video evidence.

but lets not get at each others throats over this! it was a great laugh and an interesting comparison between two very very very different cars.

My lap times, im informed were all over the shop 1:15's and so on. This can be attributed to a cool down or a wee mistake or traffic, mostly traffic, but thats that.
cheers rw

the P1 i'm on about had a large tail pipe.he passed me on the pit straight.i went up against Sams turbo at Crail and reckon this P1 was even faster,i only think it may have been the one with the damaged bumper.at a guess 300ish bhp if Sam's is 280bhp.Sam also noticed one faster than the rest.

[500 smarties including fitting, but trying to get some reduction as paint job on bumper is substandard and paint peeling off from all over bumper.

Standard P1 with exeption off decatted exhaust and Tarrox 6 pot calipers and drilled/vented discs..also commited (well he should be) driver not having to worry about muppets coming the other way. Was great day out, next time going to try slicks..

500 smarties.. UGH thats a lot of cash!

if this is you, sorry im kinda guessing it it, are u a NDT chap a bomber or whatever they call it.

And do u visit 3 plus engineering in portlethen one time? My fiances father spotted a deep blue subaru that had some bumper damage and some pretty LARGE brakes?! If so, funny how the world is!

When i said i didnt think it was faster than the other one i just meant up the straight as otherwise it was hard to tell.

Well that P1 driver sure can chuck a Subaru around, very impressed.

He was bloody quick in the wet in particular, Just after the snow i couldnt stay with him, my rear end was all over the shop trying to put the power down.

Once it started to dry out though i had the bugger for breakfast (or should that be afternoon tea?) LOL

Interesting conversation on IWOC John i was running around 290-300BHP at knockhill.

Paul - glad you found your way onto Scoobynet at last

John - Paul has had lots of practice with the P1 in slippery conditions. He was in the group that did the monster route on this year's Tour d'Ecosse in quite heavy rain. Just ask him about what happened as he left Ullapool I think they covered 520 miles in 12 hours, on very wet single track roads up the West, Northern and the Eastern coasts of Scotland !! You might be interested in attending with your Sport next year, as I wouldn't recommend the Westie given the weather we get in November, though it hasn't stopped Tut for the past few years.

Glad you got a copy of the IWOC messages Wasn't sure if you were a member or not.

Hmmm, scotland, November, Westfield, sounds a bit barking mad to me. See you there!

Only problem is stopping to refuel every 100 miles.

i was winding you up mate. i don't have any lap times but they would be variable. but it will be interesting to know what did your mates get. i have managed 64-65 last year on normal road tyres so nuff said.
caught you up again in my last session when i was out with dougie your were going to be the next victim but i ran out of petrol, i had done over 15 laps by that time over taking 1/2 a dozen elises, exeige and alot more subarus and a P1.

it is quite funny that you think that a 280bhp subaru is slower than your car. but who cares, i really don't. so put your words into actions at the venue of your choice and I WILL BEAT YOU. . otherwise just admit defeat gracefully and stop all these excuses which so far are as follows :

1- trackion not my fault get a better car.
2-traffic you need to drive better applies for both of us
3- brakes ?? is that also my fault ? see 1
4- me being a Nutter see 2
5- the kindness of your heart
6- lack of power ? power to weight is similar.

i give up ?

john
the P1 i am talking about had the number plate W741 i am not taking a guess but i am sure about it as i took mental note of the number. it is the only W reg P1 according to the list that john sent us. crail is does not have as long straights as knockhill

i totally agree with johnF. as he did over take me in my first session in the wet but then i overtook him back few times after that but he was the only car that over took me apart from johnF but this a different story

Hi Sam

Next Crail is 8th April. We usually all meet up in Dundee beforehand. It would be good to have your Scooby & your mates Evo along, making for an interesting days racing.I would expect runs in the 12 second bracket from that Evo, judging by its performance round KH
Standard clutch seems to be holding up well in mine, only 5000+rpm off the line will make it slip.Normally launch between 3500 & 4000, slight wheelspin, seems the best way to get away quick.
There was 8 Scoobs on the strip at the last Crail, most we've seen racing yet! <showing the Cossies how its done...lol>.
I'll be posting up the Crail details nearer the time, on the Scottish Meets forum, hope you's can make it.

Does it really matter who is the fastest? (me LOL)

We are all there to have a giggle, enjoy our cars, maybe learn a little about ourselves but not race.

Oops, did i kill the banter? (i doubt it )

Get some decent brakes and some fuel mr P1 and get your *** to donington, i'll have you for breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea there m8. (unless it rains then i am fooked LOL)

By that time brakes were letting me down as was fuel starvation coming out of the hairpin.

But please note stef, that its weird that i could think " my car is as fast as a 280 bhp subaru " even though we have equal power at the wheels and my car weighs less.

Dave reids evo 6 has more horsepower than you and i didnt struggle with it. But again its weird that i could think my car as fast as a "300 bhp evo"

do u mean in a straightline? as id well put my car up in a rolling start straightline race ie out of the hair pin etc. or up to higher speeds. I know what my car can and cannot do.

as for me "buying a better car" my rsturbo was built up and bought when i was a student on a crappy part time job, i could only dream of owning a 10 grand plus car if not a 20 grand plus car.

and it still held your car off...

as you said variable laptimes correct, i was up at 1:15 at some points after my spin i went slow for lap after lap after lap trying to regain trust in the car.

ps on my 100 laps i never managed to pass "countless elises or exiges or std subarus or evo's" next time you will have to show me how.

The only way i could pass them thru the complex was to break track etiquette.

and i wasnt gonna do that. They had to wait to after the chicane or the next corner or our of the hairpin.

As said. whatever. The stop watch doesnt lie

Im sure u can beat 1.03.42 and i know i can aswell with some later braking.
