No they won't if you know how to configure your devices

I hibernate mine all the time with no problem. When this does happens it's user error usually; allowing the network card to wake the PC on activity or multimedia sharing is allowed to wake the computer, so any streaming device which is still on and part of your network will turn the PC back on.

I don't want to know how to configure my devices, I want to shut the lid, open the lid and crack on... like a Mac. Vista you can forget it, Windows 7 might wake up. And this is sleep not hibernation.

Similar things happen when you sleep it as well, so it applies. If you can't be bothered to click a few device options, then what's the point in owning it, lazy.

I have to say, Win 7 on my desktop has a sketchy hibernate mode for me, its auto set to go to peeps after a certain time, some times it never actually sleeps.

Never managed to get to the bottom of it, i have came home from work to find the machine running, i check all process that i can see and its not even doing anything!?

A couple of times, the fecking thing has went to peeps while i have been streaming stuff to my xbox.

Can't say I've has sleep issues on win7.

But these are factory OEM computers and not messed with much since taking out of the box 18months ago. They Sleep and hibernate fine. I guess a memory resident add-on application or update (say, quicktime for example) could interfere.

But like a rogue app on your iphone sucking down the battery becuase it stays active in standby.

As per my earlier post, goto device manager, power management on devices that can wake your PC, find all possible culprits and turn them off then hibernation WILL work. It's usually the network card or KB/Mouse. Failing that check the advanced POWER options, there are wake on activity items in there to.

^ Wireless mice ^ can be troublesome with sleep mode.

My A4-Tech mice have been known to prevent sleep on Vista - I just disabled wake up on mouse. Just have to hit a key on the keyboard instead..
