Do you not fancy stripping out all the sound deadening from under the carpets

Started work on my own DTM style front splitter for under the P1 lip, wasnt sure how it would look but gave it a go...

Sourced some plastic 4.5mm ABS sheet, white i know but it was dirt cheap £5! yes £5...

Next started measuring up and marking it out and then began cutting to shape...

Some more measuring, adjusting and trimming...

Then finally trimmed to the size i wanted it...

Next job was to cover it in some carbon fibre sheet, so measured and trimmed to size...

Then after several failed attempts...

Offered up against the P1 lip to see what it looks like...

Next and last step was to fit some edge trim to the front to finish it off...

Quite happy with how it looks to say its homemade...

Not bad for £25 total cost, will see what it looks like once fitted to the actual car!.

isnt the whole point to the lower diffuser it to create a flat floor so shouldnt you have left the bit behind the bumper in place instead of cutting????

great work though

Ive already tryed them unfortunately... The version they sell are asymmetrical so the left mirror is sitting lower than the right one. One ones you got are not the same as those Japspeed sell and thats why i asked where you got your mirrors. There are some different versions on ebay so its difficult to know what is ok and what is crap, yours looked good.

I will not use the Japspeed mirrors thats for sure, the car looks retarded when you are standning in front of it or looking at the drivers side (left side in Sweden, the proper driver side! )

True m8 it is, and that was my plan in the pic, however the plastic abs was too heavy and thick and would have needed alot of support, this is only my 1st attempt to see how it looks, it will no doubt evolve from just a splitter to a diffuser.

Just a thought Drew but i would get one of Harveys special tapered uppipes to optimise those's Headers,it will give alot better spool and more torque as the standard one is a little large on the bore size of the uppipe

Called in a the paint shop today in my way home from work to see if there was any progress, there was much more than i thought!...

All masked up and even begun the prepping etc...

Even a etch layer applied to the struts and inner wings...

Really pleased with the amount that's been done already!

Had some pics sent to me today of the progress this week, if it looks as good in the flesh as it does in the pics then and going to be very happy!...

The progress;

Front wings....

The rear end and inside the door shuts painted...

Rear ABW arches trial fitted to ensure paint match as these were painted a few months back...

Back arches painted, quite pleased with them to say how much had to be cut away and then re welded...

Coming on now!

Not much progress today as car is still in the paint shop, however managed to get some little bits done...

Manifold stripped ready for powder coating...

Refurbed the tired looking carbon strut brace...

Plus the brake res heat shield...

Some more parts arrived...

Deep dish suede steering wheel...

And some whiteline front and rear antiroll bars...

Why did you have to have the wheels specially made?

By specially made, I meant team dynamics specifically made these set for me due to the ridiculous low offset of 11.

Got the car back from the paint shop! Well pleased to say the least! The only drama however was that due to me being a tight **** I decided to nit have the roof painted, just buffed!, but juring the buffing, the original paint decided it wanted to come away in places! So has left me with a dilemma which I would like some opinions in please!

Do I ....

A. Just get the roof done now as well

Or...

B. Go for a carbon wrap on the roof to match the splitter and wing mirrors?

Your thoughts pls!???

Anyway despite the roof issue, her she is...

Couldn't resist trying an arch on...

Had a spare hour so started the massive job of putting her all back together....

LH Intercooler pipe in place along with air filter and various other bits...

Battery tray, water spray bottle and fuse box...

Plus a few of the other shiny bits...

Only a few more million parts to put back together now! Ha.

I did exactly the same. I sold my Lotus Exige S and once I paid off the finance the remaining money was my budget to buy and mod an Impreza and buy a tow vehicle.

I found a good STI RA which I got for £2850 already modded with 3" s/s turbo back exhaust, induction kit, FMIC, breather filters and looks like an engine re-build in a CDB.

I have set a budget of approx £1500 to complete it to where I wanted to get it to for track days. So far I have added an Whiteline ALK, Simtek ecu, CDF rear drop links, s/s headers and up-pipe, 17" sppedline GT1 alloys with Goodyear eagle F1 GSD 3 tyres, Millers CFS 10w60 engine oil, Millers CRX 75w90 NT gearbox oil and s/s brake lines.

I am still looking for brakes which will probably be the gold brembo's for the front then its ready for a remap on the simtek and a more aggressive geo set up for the track.

Got a land rover freelander to tow it. All in I should be within my budget.

Cheers.

Sounds like it will be a nice car that m8, presume the simtek is 2nd hand or that £1500 must have gone already!? Ha. Setting a budget is a good idea with an Impreza build, it's made me shop around for second hand bargains and added to the fun!

Good luck with it m8!

Well another Saturdays hard graft, some real progress today, looking like a car again!.....

All engine parts re-installed and FMIC plumbed in, fired it up for the 1st time in 8 weeks!...

Then it was on to the front end, bumper, headlights, sidelights, indicators and fog covers went on, plus trial fitted the front arches again...

I love this view of the car with the arches...

New facelift Back bumper on, plus trial fitted the new sti6 spoiler...

Couldn't resist trying the back arches in too...

New facelift Bonnet fitted...

Very very pleased so far!

Drew
