It is what it is mate - sure it will take some testing to make the most of the p Zeros but they will be fine

 

Am glad "P6" has really pushed out the boundaries for quite a few to aim at! Hopefully catch up up with you soon!

 

Small update:

- Diffuser design done .... (sorry no pics) - hopefully it will work well and will be made in time for testing in march (pretty please). Should, at the very least, look a million times better than the homebrew prototype creation LOL

- turbo ordered and should be arriving next week (pretty please Mark ). Nice shiney GT35/82 which should give a respectable power increase over current figures

Lots more jobs to do and hopefully get the stickers finished today so that I can post some pics of the whole car

True, I believe there will probably be quite a few last minute entries in the hope of picking up some easy points.

Last year it was a big hooha about xyz
The year before it was no-one entering cos of the 5% rule and everyone thinking they will have to slow down during the year because they will get penalised.

This year is no different and the entry list will continue to be strong as guys get fed up with doing track days and want to compete.

... in the meantime I, and a lot of other guys/girls, will make the best of the tyres (they can be made to work well I am sure) and go beat BTCC times and have some fun and experiences along the way.

Bring it on along with all the lack of sleep, tears, blood, sweat, heartache and hopefully joy

 

Duncan as much as I think you're a top bloke that's a bit of an arrogant statement and a bit of a swipe at those building their own cars. Not everyone can wangle sponsorship deals or awesome discounts with tuners. Infact I'm sure its incredibly hard to do.

Building cars is fooking expensive. Please spare a thought for those wishing to be able to do what you do instead of having a go (albeit a mild one) at them. Not everyone has the budget or the contacts to do what you do. Just think where you'd be if you hadn't had the help you've had from the likes of Paul, Mark and Bren et Al and you had to do things all by yourself. It's a whole different mountain to climb then.

 

Daz - having read back what I wrote i agree with you and have amended my post.

You have shown what can be acheived with a minimal budget but just a determination to get it done by a certain date (even if it isnt the ultimate final spec).

 

It's just my theory regarding last minute entries no need to go all defensive

 

Not getting defensive Dunk just wonder whether anyone that has podiumed at any TA round would class them as 'easy'

 

I'm not saying it's easy points because it's an easy series Duncan, I mean easy points due to lack of competitors which seems to be the case so far as alot are holding back to see whats happening regarding tyres.

I would, I got a podium position in the first round in 2008 and didnt even run in the final! I came second over all in the championship and yet only went to three rounds.

Having said that there were only two of us in the class And at the final the other bloke didnt turn up so I had to stand on the second step of the podium by myself, second place out of one!

I think youll find it will be a full series as in all other years. Theres just lots of complaining oging on, when it comes down to it just about everyone will be there IMHO

I dont know what Duncan posted before he edited it but to be fair he has achieved huge things in a very short space of time and all the ground work was done by himself, paid for by himself and earned through pure hard work and dedication. With, of course, a big dollop of natural talent. The rewards of such work come in the form of sponsership. The backing isnt given freely, you have to earn it. You cannot for a second take that away from Duncan, he has earned the backing

 

Totally agree Bren and I'd kill for some sort of sponsorship of any kind. Duncan certainly has earned it but he's also had lots and lots of help on the way.

I personally dont agree with the easy points comments that have been made and have nothing but respect for the guys that do have a go at TA as I'm under no illusion just how draining it is both financially and physically.

My comments were in response to Duncan's that were directed at those of us that build our own project cars. Duncan has quite rightly retracted his statement. It more or less undermined project cars. Take mine for instance I've done everything apart from the mapping myself. I'm a complete amatuer and an IT nerd as a living. I've still managed to build a 600bhp classic, win scooby shootout modified drag class (i'm aware the weather was a factor), do a 10 second 1/4 the week after at my first ever go on the drag strip in the dry and be this months cover car in Japanese Performance. I've not yet explored the handling side of things and I hope to be competitive there too. Had I had the help that Duncan has the car would be significantly more capable and dare I say that I would be too.

I just thought that after his comments Duncan needed reminding what its like for us with limited budgets and no help because despite those restrictions quite alot can be accomplished. He accepted that and edited what he'd said so all is cool I'll still be there at TA cheering him on.

 

Daz - you make it sound like I have had an unlimited budget....(I know you know that isn't the case) Far from the truth and even aside from discounted parts/labour my budget has consistently less than most people In TA and I do almost all the work myself or make what I can, build what I can to keep the spend low. Alternatively I stretch the limits of standard parts and only spend on what needs to be done.

Yes I have had help, mostly Paul at Zen in the early days when the project was still young when he and Liz believed there was potential - for that I am ever grateful and still grateful to Paul for his valued input into the car and setup.

Once performances started getting results then it is easier to get support but results aren't essential for sponsorship and understanding what sponsors want helps.

 

Ive got that very copy of Jap Performance on my desk in front of me now with your car looking back at me. I had a flick through the article on the car yesterday. That rare for me, I get mags coming out of my ears as we advertise in a few so get them free and I rarely take notice of what cars they feature anymore.

Very much a case of after the horse has bolted but Id have been happy to talk to you about backing in return for some exposure on the vehicle in the mag feature. Although with the clean RCM look youve got going on I expect you dont want it cluttered up with random branding
