I'll have a chat with a guy at work, he raced a civic and knows a local garage who runs the cars, they may have a solution?

Matt,

We're sticking in a Hayabusa lump. Not only are they quite potent as std, but they respond well to normal tuning, big bore kits, turbos and Nitrous. Decisions decisions........

Craig

The thread to which you refer has details of discounted rates at Easytrack days, for SIDC members.

Stef is merely passing on the details of Easytracks offer. Easytrack are one of many commercial track day companies that allow you to take anything you want along for the day.

By the way, I drove the Hyabusa engined Westie at the EVO Track Day Car Of The Year test and it was stunning.

It will be a lot of fun.

John, glad you're OK, it sounds like it was a big one.

The EasyTrack or any other days that Stef sorts a quick discount for SIDC members on are just a bonus. They are not SIDC events as I see it - just somewhere you can get a few quid off a commercial track day. 'Thank You' would be the most appropriate response IMHO!

I love having a mix of cars on track days, but the majority and the reservation preference should (and is) given to those with a Scoob. The other marques coming just make the day financially viable and possible as I see it.

Yep, that Palmer Audi was an annoyance/danger at Bedford, and I think they were out of order running it. All others marques though added colour & interest - it is fun to be quicker than a car that has over 100bhp more than you after all! One guy was out of order (non Scoob) and I believe this even more having seen his video of it! This could easily be a Scoob driver though, but wasn't on this occasion mein friends...

Last year there was a lot of debate regarding SIDC trackdays and who was eligible or not.

The SIDC view seemed to be that it was potentially dangerous to have "high powered lightweight cars" that were considerably faster in a straightline than the scoobs and therefore they were to either be totally excluded or only accepted as reserves if the places weren't filled. I think it was more of the former, less of the latter.

This pi55ed quite a few people off - especially thee long standding members who had changed cars but wanted to still be part of the club.

So why all off a sudden, are all these SIDC trackdays popping up where they have "teamed up" with Easytrack?

Now that to me seems totally hypocritical - basically these particular track days, anyone with any car who has joined Easytrack can be there. Including the cars that SIDC wanted excluded in the first place.

What the hell is this about? SIDC just changing their minds when they feel like it or is there a valid explanation?

Our new Westfield would probably be excluded from SIDC days according to Stef - but I can just come along with Easytrack and attend the same day.

I will say personally I think it's good it's happened 'cos I like a mix of cars on track - it's the sudden turnaround and apparent attitude of changing whatever, whenever they like.

What does everyone think?

Moderators, I'd like this kept in the General Forum rather than moved to Trackdays - I think it's worth keeping here as a valid discussion unless it gets out of hand.

Craig

You're right of course, many scoobs are stuffed at track days. I know this happens but I am not aware that scoobs collide together, they are more prone to spining off on there own.

The point I'm making is that it will be my fault if I over cook a corner and lose it or out brake myself. What I don't want is some Saxo up my chuff (or worse a Probe ) knocking me off into oblivion.

Puff

You're a hero You're keeping the scoobs 'end up' against the exotic stuff (but only in the wet) good on yer. You are still braver than me though. Oh and I haven't got those nice brakes of yours either.

Maybe my memory is failing me in my old age, but the way I remember it, the ruling by the SIDC was that Scoobs (it is the Suburu Impreza Drivers Club after all) would be given preference at track days. This came about because a few Scoob owners had missed out on track days, that had a number of non-Scoobs taking part, and complained. Other makes weren't banned, they just had wait until Scoob drivers had been given a chance to get in first.

Richard/Craig - Chelsie doesn’t know cars like we do - the point she was trying to make is that we need to keep the 'idiots' off the track.

My take on this is simple, and is reflected in Chelsie's comment as she shares my view.

People move on and buy new cars, and that’s fine. It's also fine they want to stay part of the SIDC. My first track day was a Bedford in August 01, and it was all scoobys apart from one Evo 6. My second was Bedford on the 30th March. A very mixed bunch of cars.

I enjoyed both equally. What I would not enjoy is the inclusion of the (as Chelsie puts it) boy racer element. I don't want to take my £20k pride and joy on track where there is a prat element that may cause damage to me, or more importantly my car

IMHO the Palmer Audi 2 seater is a little dangerous on the days I have been on. Not had any sightings this time, but it went round me on a bend last time. I didn't see it coming and if I had made a mistake or had a mechanical problem - well who knows.

To sum up, I am open to any cars on SIDC days as long as a way can be found to filter out anyone that is irresponsible.

David
