Cheers John it was really good to meet up with you and as you can see from the results your car is pretty quick as well.
It was a great day (apart from the rain) and I would like to thank the MLR and the RAF for making it so enjoyable.
I am really impressed with the performance from the MD321V Lateral Performance Turbo, a great engine that was faultless all day built by Rich at FB Tuning and Bob Rawle who clearly has got the best out of the package with the mapping of the Syvecs ECU.
I took the opportunity to have the car corner weighted and its 1440Kg plus another 100Kg for me so a lot of lard to shift.

Yes the build has moved on a bit since you last saw it and of course you are very welcome to drop round any time.
Look forward to seeing you again soon,
Cheers

That's neat. Looks like I could still improve significantly on that time with my gear changes. Having to change gear at 125mph is a bit of a s**t. May need to have a look at that. I wonder if there is a slightly longer gear ratio for 5th I can use in the six speed box?
Thanks for requesting the post its very interesting.

Gd build and nice graphs - well done to Rich! Well done for last week's Marham run. I was meant to run but P6 was not fully ready for its 2011 debut!

Shame your car wasn't ready as that would have been good to see. I'm thinking that my car and I need to go on a diet but I keep reminding myself its a road car like yours fully laden with all the accessories. Unfortunately my day out at Marham has had an undesirable effect and may result in all sorts of items being discarded. Hopefully I'll recover before I do something serious like removing the air con.

I was gutted that we simply ran out of time on mine but better not to take a risk rather than end in tears.
I take it given it was only recently mapped, you have not had a chance to take her on the drag strip? Would be good to see what she'll do on it.
Fyi, I am not running an aftermarket oil cooler on mine as its not set up for track use - for road and drag its fine without one. Will save you some weight! At this stage I have no intention to take off my air con....who knows we might have a really hot summer!

A trip to the Pod does seem the order of the day - no point in building this thing and have it sitting in the garage. Hope to see you over there soon.

Best I make my way to the local Halfords then! That said I'm sure my local Tescos now do some "car" stuff!

Afraid not as I just dropped my car in yesterday for some bits to be done and won't be ready until week after. Weather looks to be great this week all the way up to next sat so you should have a gd day at Pod.

Fitted this back in the summer (what we had of one that is). Like Frayz the APS DR725 FMIC provides little opportunity to fit a decent oil cooler in front of the radiator so Frayz kindly made me a shroud, same as he now has fitted to his car, to fit over a Setrab 19 row oil cooler.

It fits under the front left wing and requires some careful positioning in order to ensure it fits as intended. This next photo shows the location of the lower inside bracked that I made and is held in place with an existing chassis bolt.

Next the upper inside bracket held in place with a self tapper before permanent fixing.

Installed shroud and cooler with outer brackets fitted

And finally plumbed in with -10 fittings, pipework and a splash of oil for good measure

The location, size and increased oil capacity has resulted in average oil temps during the summer of 90 to 95C (with 80C oil stat fitted) and maximum I have seen is 105C during a blast when ambient was 30C. This compares to the 115C and ambient of around 10C at RAF Marham last March without the cooler. Air flow through the cooler is sub-optimal at the moment and I'm reluctant to improve it now that winter is approching.
How front of car looks with WRX fog light surrounds used for ducting. I may need to revert to using the STi covers with ducting to improve air flow into the cooler.

Big thanks to Frayz for supplying the shroud and congrats to him for finally getting his build running.
