Bit different to sharpening a chisel mind. I do indeed use a strop infact it's a must have item to maintain that edge.

As for a paste, some do use it on the linen on their strops, such as crom ox but i don't as i like my linen, so instead i got a good bit of balsa, sanded it flat and use that instead. I use chromium oxide then sometimes caesium oxide if it needs it.

Well, I might have no choice.

I think it's more than it's just packed up though. The speakers have been making a popping noise now and again, so I shall have to investigate later.

Trout.

This thread has had me thinking. I'm sure my dad has his old cine film projector up in the attic, along with the late 70's early 80's films of my sister & I. That should be worth a giggle to get out of the roof

The missus has a non-doctor, circa 1972 vintage, it used to be her grans.

My missus wanted to upgrade it to a model with GPS positioning and Bluetooth, but her mother was having none of it, and insisted it stay in the family, so to speak.

How's the gilding holding up? I hope it hasn't started shedding to give a glitter-fanny effect.

Gilding went years ago. Her dad tiled it in 1987.
