That is correct but the core is far bigger than it needs to be to do a reasonably good job in the UK so it is not critical.
On my STi 3 Wagon I have a square Jap style number plate located on the near side in front of the spot light cover so that does not interfere with the core whatsoever. On the STi 6 Wagon and 95 WRX Wagon I have legal sized digits on the number plate but I have cut down the number plate itself so there is only a small margin bigger than the actual letter size. I also seal the cut with silicon to stop water ingress. I know the plate is supposed to be a set size with a set border but I am maintaining the original number plate size so I think it will be nit picking if it leads to any difficulty.
They are all Jap cars.
Obviously on track you remove the number plates.

with a bigger volume of air at pressure behind the throttle do you find it surges when coming on off light throttle when your cruising?

Not if properly mapped.

i got around it by accident while venting oil breather from head and crank to a oil catch tank. i'm now looking to get a gems maf less ecu to eliminate other issues the front mount inherits.
what sort of lag increase do you get with your kits (harvey)?
will you be making a shorter tracked system in the future?

I've got one of Harvey's GT's, mapped by Bob Rawle on a 2.5 conversion.

As far as I can tell, lag is non-existant.

Good but I am not sure I understand what you mean
i'm now looking to get a gems maf less ecu to eliminate other issues the front mount inherits.Look at a Simtek which many people prefer and is probably cheaper.
what sort of lag increase do you get with your kits (harvey)?Fractional. So small it cannot reasonbly be measured
will you be making a shorter tracked system in the future? No. Not on GT or GT2. Yes on GDB and GDG but nothing to do with lag or perceived lag issues.

I am not into fixing things that dont exist. This lag on an FMIC is very much overdone. The problem usually lies elsewhere Look and see if the core is efficient and look at the mapping. Also look at what end users have to say and there are lots of Hybrid FMIC users that will tell you the same.

No top mounts. I am yet to find a topmount that is a well engineered solution and is cost effective.
