What was your first computer?
my first was the toshiba msx, games loaded via a tapedeck that if i was lucky i could start one loading before dinner and by the time i'd finished it might have loaded up but more often than not it crashed!!
had it for years but moved on to a nintendo 64 so it made the msx redundent, i then got a c64 i think with the terminator pack but got bored so got rid of it then concentrated on gaming consoles by nintendo until i brought my first house at 22 when i also brought a apple cube because i needed a small computer due to lack of space. had that for a few years then brought the 1.6ghz g5 which i've still got but i'm now looking at getting a 21.5"imac.

ZX81. My old man pulled them apart, made it into 4k and added a new keyboard. I used to love him programming them, then me playing (and subsequently removing) the games. Good times!

Then Atari 2600, Spectrum 48k, C64, (always loved Amiga 500 & Atari ST, but never owned), then went onto consoles, with Sega Master System, Megadrive, SNES, PS1, Panasonic 3DO, PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox, Wii, Xbox 360.

Haha reminds me of a funny story where my old man bought a CPC464 mag which include the code to write your own game (Da Bells). Me and my old man spent an entire weekend typing and troubleshooting the code (many typos). Only to find that they gave you a free tape of the full game in the next mag

ZX81 here!!!
The latter "Firebird" Hi-res games were technically mind blowing when they came out for this. You couldn't beat the galaxian's clone though with "v"'s as the alien ships! lol
Myles,
Yes I remember that!

I remember spending hours nicking software programmes from work using 5.25 floppies, half of which corrupted in a few weeks. Must have been on to a 286 with yellow writing on screen.
When I started working at home in 1990 I bought a Compaq laptop for £3000 and an HP Printer for £1200 - now £25 on e-bay
I showed my son an old floppy to show him how things had changed

How many times did you hear (toward a 3.5" disk) "but its not floppy so does that make it a hard disk"?
Mmmm I upgraded the ram in my 486 dx2 50 to go to uni from a whopping 4 up to 8mb! Cost me nigh on £200 if my memory serves me right. Made **** all difference either
