proof you say...

Battery:

Heavy users of smartphones may find the battery life offered on Samsung Captivate disappointing. As many of our readers have noted in the past, the new iPhone 4 offers significantly improved battery life that comfortably lasts for a day in most cases. However, this may not be the case with the Captivate and as TiPb points out, the battery may not last a work-day if you are a heavy user.

The final verdict is that the iPhone 4 is a pretty good performer. Its score is day shorter than what Galaxy S and Samsung Wave achieved but my guess is you’d have a hard time depleting the iPhone 4 battery on a single day of regular use. And compared to the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 is hands-down a superior performer, although at the announcement Apple promised only a marginal improvement. Well, that’s one lie we can take.
see the clue , regular user not someone who just leaves it waiting for a call

And 90% of them have every app, function & profile enabled.

Which will drain the battery, given it has a 4" screen

Mine lasted 10 days with surfing everyday, calls, texts & games

The trick is not to have every function under the sun sending data

BTW i could kill my ipod touch overnight, after apple updated the os and

left the wifi active and enabled when not in use , negated the point of the

sleep timer some what lol

Anyone wanting to use the iPhone as a alarm, There's a pretty good app out called Sleep cycle , It basically uses the on board gyro meter to monitor sleep patterns through the night , Then in a 30 min period before you need to wake up it senses when your in the lightest sleep phase and sets the alarm .
Really clever stuff and I have been using now for a few weeks and it does work also gives statistics on your sleep pattern through the night.

Failing that you could use another device ... called an alarm clock
