C'mon UB, your posts make the Daily Mail look like left-wing propaganda, which in my book is great because your ludicrous postings help temper Pete's equally ludicrous postings.

OOoo... that hurts.... A response worthy of the 'protesters' themselves. You could be a role model for them...

Well done. Keep on trying....

Not likely as I am a neutral in all this, I can see both sides of the argment whereas you just have one uber right myopic viewpoint as usual hence why you opinion is worthless in real terms

That's quite a compliment. Sadly, not true.

They do it a lot better than I can...

BTW - what's all this: 'I am a neutral' bollo* That's a cop out if ever I heard one - lol

anyway - let's get back on topic...

you are all a bunch of f'in fascists as far as I'm concerned.

I think it's extremely *good* that we have some rioting in this country.

Of course the establishment and all you daily mail readers want everyone to have a "peaceful protest", because then they can all ignore whatever the protest is about.

Poll tax riots changed the poll tax.

1+ million anti war protesters changed **** all.

I feel relieved, quite frankly, that at least some people have some ***** to stand up to authority (and I don't mean you predominantly middle aged men).

I wouldn't attend anyway, because I'm firmly against the tuition fees, but firmly for the protests/riots. The government / establishment need a firm kick up the bottocks, and the students seem to be the only group willing to deliver it.

I agree with the policy of making the student pay for their education as they get the benefit, but i also think that the rioting is the politicians own fault as some else said earlier you can get a million plus people to march and still be ignored so what other option do you have on single issue matters you cant wait 5 years for a general election

I wonder if most people complaining about the rioting are complaining because they support the increase in fees.

what if it was the protests were about doubling the cost of petrol to raise more tax revenue would we be out on the streets rioting because be certain about one thing if we just marched down the road nothing would change look at how they banned Fox Hunting and took us to war in Iraq for proof.

I actually can't be bothered wading into the actual argument of the protests and if, buts, whys and maybes of it all. What I would say is that is highlights a salient point;

You can't trust the government, especially the turncoat Lib Dems. Would there have been protests if Nick Clegg hadn't completed a U-turn on policy? Probably but I bet it wouldn't have been half as bad.

Me, along with every other tax payer, I expect.

However, you completely missed my point. The government don't give a damn what anyone thinks apart from when it's election time (at which point it's fair to lie to get more votes), and they need a wake up call that you can't just ignore what people think without consequences.

... and why would I go protesting about something *I* don't believe in?

Does anyone know what it will actually SAVE government in not paying fees? I don't think it's a huge amount in the overall scheme of things, perhaps a year's worth of spending in Afghanistan killing UK's best.

25% won't pay much and a big percentage won't pay anything for a variety of reasons including going overseas.

I think it's wrong to load kids up with a £30k+ debt. Maybe £10k - 15k max, enough to discourage a lot of kids going to uni "for the sake of it".

LOL I'm watching the UoLU news conference.

I'd no idea that leftist politics still burned bright in our universities!

Despite the cliches they parrot, and naivety, I kind of admire their heart.

When I was a student back in the 90's we were either just drinking or trying to make sure we were going to be employable to Capitalist corporations!

Anyway this is acting like a lighting rod for general dissatisfaction with the austerity measures and is only good IMHO.

The rest of us are too preoccupied with our house prices, mortgages, strictly come dancing, whether to buy a BMW or Audi, too complain or protest.

Listening to some of those interviews from the press conference, I have never heard such a load of tosh!

Lol @ the leftist comment I have to agree!

Pity pity pity, sob sob sob! STFU and accept some responsibility for your actions and the actions of the yobs that were there on the streets with you.

As expected , the police did this, the police did that, the police provoked us, we were only defending ourselves...... Get a life, take a bath, get a job!

I would have more respect for these people who claim to be the genuine protesters if they ever just condemned the actions of those trashing monuments, vandalising buildings, and attacking the police with bricks etc, let alone pelting prince Charles and camilla.
But no! They can't, all they can do is point the finger, and blame others for this behaviour.

I also work overseas and come across many foreign grads. Many are formidably technically educated, but IMHO they tend to lack a 'roundness' to their education, lack of cultural, arts etc, know nothing about history, in short unable to really think.

When I was around that age I was considered "well rounded" enough to be in charge of a fully armed military aircraft and to be able to use it effectively in a war situation. I had to be able to find a correct target, avoid being shot down, and know how to avoid committing friendly fire against our own side for that matter.

Why are you attempting to make excuses for a bunch of thugs who are prepared to use violence and destructive force at aorund that sort of age. They have no excuse whatsoever for the shameful actions that they are carrying out. They are supposed to be intelligent enough for a University place for heavens sake!

Chalk and cheese Les. Disgraceful to see what some people think is acceptable. I am astounded at the damage caused by these people, and the disrespect shown to others.

Age is not an excuse, as you say.

Going out, covering your face, and thinking you are democratically entitled to run a mock and deface the monuments and buildings of London is disgraceful and they deserves everything thrown at them including batons!
