RB5 For £2k
It will be so funny when you see how wrong you are and i bet you wont be able to admit it, its the same bodyshell.. I even think the cheapest versions of the non turbo model had solid back seats, but maybe they to had a STI shell then?
Not even the group N or group A rallycars had any other shell to begin with, just a firewall between the cockpit and boot becouse the fueltank was located in the boot.
Trust me. This is what i have found-
- probably the best off the shelf turbo was the March 1999 RB5 special edition. It was called the RB5 to commemorate the return of Richard Burns to the Subaru rally camp and because his rally car number was 5.
A very impressive specification made this the ultimate special edition. Perhaps the most significant feature was under the skin, unlike ordinary imprezas with their folding rear seats, the RB5 had a bespoke shell with a rigid rear bulkhead, stiffening up the shell considerably.
The paintwork was called Blue Steel metallic ( actually not blue at all- it was the same as cool grey on Jap STI's ). Everything was colour coded including door mirrors, door handles, side skirts, front and rear under spoilers and spot lamp covers. The wheel choice was 17" speedline with six spoke design in pewter colour fitted with pirelli P zero 205/45/zr17 tyres.
RB5 decals adorned the driving light covers and rear end as well as the interior carpets mats.
Inside the seats were upholstered in black 'jersey' cloth with blue alcantara inserts and there was a special graphite trim for the centre console.
Standard equipment included air con, prodrive quickshift, RB5 mats and map readind lights. A numbered plaque by the gear lever informed you that you were driving one of only 444 cars produced, at a cost of £24.995.

Actually he's not wrong. I owned an RB5 and it was different to the 99 UK Turbo 2000 that replaced it. Also if you read the haynes book about the Impreza it also back this up.
The rear bulkhead on The RB5 IS different!!!
The rear bulkhead on The RB5 IS different!!!
oskar, your apology can either be written or I can send you my number and you can call me at a time convenient to me to give it in person.
I want to se the difference, please someone post a picture!
This is very strange, every single one of the stripped STI cars ive seen has been identical to the one i have, the only difference ive spotted is the brace between the wheelarches that supports the rear seats. Is this what you meen about the "bulkhead"? If thats the case that does not count in my book, becouse it just bolts in the existing threads on all shells. I will now go through all my pictures of Imprezas to see if i find something..
But if im wrong i am very sorry that i was being a moron, but i dont belive it until i see it!
Edit: found a picture from a STi Type RA:

Just a brace, no different shell.... If i can get my hand on one of those braces i can fit it straigth in my holes and get a STI shell!

Sorry guys you have well and truely been blown out of the water by Oskar! The shell is the same on the rb5 as it is on any classic 4 door shape impreza, the solid rear bulkhead is just the brace, the flimsy bit of black plastic and the one piece rear seat. This is what you get on the rb5 and what you(should) get on every classic jdm Sti. End of!!! think I know what I'm on about after owning a RB for 2 years and now got a type r which has the exact same things!
Ps Daz there's a meet down at pauls Monday, get yourself down pal.

No more meets for me this year the impreza has been sorned.

Its so funny that you guys really think Subaru would produce a different shell for a Turbo2000 that only has a different interior color, some RB5 stickers and other small differences...
Just to clear things up:
MattyB1983 - retard
f1_fan - superretard
dazdavies - thinks he know more than he do, dont care if you have 600bhp you are still wrong.

The 1994 STI ( the first STI produced ) had aluminum bonnet and boot. All later STI's didn't. The first STI was not given a version number like later ones and unlike later STI's it was not modified at Subaru, it was taken off the production line and worked on at the STI works.
Also, I've owned a 1994 Wrx, 1995 Wrx, 1996 STI V2 and currently a 1997 STI V3. None of these cars had a brace in the back.

Guys, Just a quick question... Where in Cheltenham is this RB5, cause as far as i'm aware.. MINE is the only one.. an i'm NOT selling it.
Ohh an the Picture that was shown is the EXCAT same rear bulk head as my RB5. It doesn't have split rear seats.

If ridgid rear bulk head means the strut brace and non folding rear seats then that's it. When I said solid I meant ridgid ( same difference ), when the rb5 was released in 99 it was the only impreza to have ridgid rear bulkhead. No other impreza had the brace out of the factory, it may well have been an option. I've never seen one in any of the cars that I have owned or had through my hands.
More to the point, who gives a ****, I still want to buy the one that were all talking about. Still not recieved the call yet. Maybe she's sold it.

You where wrong and i was right, now you are very welcome to apologize to me!
I'm sure I've read in the brochure that the RB5 came with a "Rigid Bulkhead" and it's mentioned in Long's book of the Impreza......LOL
