"How it would compare with a similar power to weight ratio Scoob - wet or dry it would be a close run thing. RS would probably win in the dry - even money in the wet. "
I'd love to see such a comparison. Of course it'll never happen. Politics I suppose. Though it was interesting to see chris harris (complete blowhard that he is granted) compare the 98' wrc scooby to the gt3rs and say how the GT3 was no-where close to it- at least with regard to covering ground. j

I think it is simpler. A Scoob with a similar power to weight ratio would be modified - so then you are into a different debate.
It was great reading about Colin's old car - the drama. In terms of tarmac spec a WRC is going to be very quick but I think Harris was talking about the overall experience.
The counter are the comments from Francois Delacours who says that with appropriate mods (interior, cage and uprated suspension to take the strain) the GT3 RS would compete in the top six of a WRC tarmac event. I doubt a 98 WRC car would even be top 20 nowadays. Hypothetical of course - but from someone competent to judge. The French will not let him enter though as it would not be politic
So it's not all power and speed.
If I had the money I would happily have the old WRC car over (as well as) the GT3 but I don't!

take a look at this vid: (911 GT3 in the snow on a rally!)

watch that, and you're just convinced he's overcooked it and is about to fall off
A WRC car would almost certainly be 5sec a Km quicker than that car on that surface, but just look boring by comparison. Wrc cars now fly 6 feet into the air, at 100mph, land on just one front wheel, and just recover without a rebound, making the astonishing seem routine, do that in a Group B car and you'd still be in a tankslapper about 1km further down the road
