Im with you on this, just don't really get it, I am not scared of a big meal but when I have had enough that's it, no need to keep eating to prove a point and then feel bloated for ages which is a horrible feeling. I tend to overshoot where I scoff stuff down and end up eating too much because it takes twenty minutes to register, I need to slow down and eat less, not the other way round.

I like to feel hungry and then have a decent meal, I think feeling hungry is a good thing, only bad when you have no prospect of a meal, love riding home from work and waiting for tea, perhaps ordering a chicken kebab and when it arrives its awesome.

Have watched man v food and he must feel awful after some of those, systems in overdrive trying to process all that, any food place can lash together some huge meal and give it a tough sounding name to convince the gullible to roll up and try it then you get it for free, guess the financial cost is the last thing on your mind when trying to digest a 7lb burger.

The Titanic burger looks delicious but after the first quarter I would be gagging and not enjoying it, would rather enjoy all that lovely stuff over 4 or 5 meals.

I think a lot of the problem with food and obesity in this world is portion size, eyes bigger than your belly and this is the ultimate expression of it, go to America and see the portions they give, I go with colleagues and they bring their kids and the kids get given the same meal that I cant finish, they eat perhaps a half and the rest goes in the bin, same all across the western world but particularly in America, millions of tonnes binned because the portions are too big or people the size of houses because they actually eat it all. All that time and effort expended to put food in landfill, we arent so bad over here at it as we get spanked for every penny and food places dont tend to overdo it as its all about the bottom line.

I agree with J4CKO. What is anyone trying to prove by overeating in such a ridiculous manner?

Well said Jacko! Without wanting to get on my soapbox, it's hard to take this thread with any credibility when there's countless people going hungry around the world.
Programmes like man vs food are just a symptom of reality tv. People without any discernible talent wanting their fifteen minutes of fame.

I guess it pays not to take it too seriously, I guess its only a bit of fun and most people don't do it but I wouldn't bother.

light entertainment, thats all i see it as,

i like to watch the "excess" in most things, biggest engineering acheivements, buildings, fastest this or that, worlds strong man comps ect there light entertainment.
agree its not needed atall, and i have a tiny stomach, but i cook big meals, eat a 1/3rd, put it to the side and it covers my next 2 meals also,
i tryhave around 8 ish meals, although some would hardly be considered a meal - a banana, 2 youghurts and pint if milk with 2 scoops whey is one of my meals, another is porridge and 2 boiled eggs.

but it still really enjoy watching guys that can eat big, dont know why lol, but when you see adam after pushing himself, his face looks even more bloated and looks proper ill, lol - i too hate that feeling

wouldnt go getting all upset about it tbh.

ill get on my soapbox then, these things arent meant to be taken seriously, who actually needs to know how much anyone else can eat, or how fast someone can drive ect ect.
the food "waste" is a sh*t argument, we waste more fuel, energy and vastly more resources every single day than we actually need, that could help the worlds starving and homeless.
if it bothers you, send donations to the charitites that help starving people, give beggers/homless people money in the street, thats what i do. because it im bothered enough by things i see to give what i can reasonably affoard to.

if your not that bothered then just dont give. simple

edit to add, i totally agree its tv for the talentless idiots to get there fame, its pointless. but so is most of the tv now, its meant ot be like that, its not trying to educate you or trick you ect. take it for what it is, which is amusing you for half an hour, and if you dont like it, watch bb, im a celeb, dancing on ice, x factor, ect ect or easties, corrie, hollyoaks, neighbours lol there all documentaries teaching the real important values in life lol

Fuel, energy etc are a distant second in importance to food for the majority of the world. I do give what I can to charity, that doesn't preclude me from commenting on the folly of these eating challenges.

i bet they would, along with the millions dying from curable diseases,
and from having to drink stagnant, polluted water to survive, while we let millions of litres of ours pour into the ground from leaks alone. or we create fountains with it, play with it in the summer ect.

stopping eating challenges ect ect isnt going to make a blind bit of difference to the politics of how humans chose to conduct there behaviour on this planet - were a horrible speices - with some good parts inbetween.

how anyone can be offended or sickend by them i cant get, i presume you must take a extremely dim veiw of resteraunts as a whole-there really not needed and almost all serve food in excess of whats required., what about the whole master chef tv carry on. playing with food to make it into beautiful shapes, and so it looks absoultley divine! thats a real kick in the teeth to someone with no food atall.

Default A proud son...

Hello there.

My mum, Ginny Jardine, was owner and landlady of the Kestrel Inn, Hatton, and currently still holds the Guinness World Record title, for serving a 200 ounce (pre-cooked weight) rump steak on her day to day menu, circa 1996.
