Had a spin in a new mini a while back...just not for us.

Bought a 1999 old Cooper S and love it! Never works though!

Hope he enjoys it though

Arrr..remember now, that was the fault diagnosed originally then they decided to change the throttle body together with it for some reason... that did cured the problem for the next 20k miles, until I sold it for an sti.....

Good car overall, did changed the Alta supercharger pulley Alta intake and intercooler with a bluefin chip.. Many ppl see it as a hairdresser car, but it really flys...

I think the most boring and perhaps most gay people on internet sites and in life general are those who refer to other people's cars as 'hairdressers cars'

Normally they have never driven one, secretly they desire one and more likely than not, they are actually gay

Anyway,its an Estate Agents car

In the six months the wife has had hers she's had to replace the power steering pump and windscreen wiper motor.

We've given up on the airbag light coming on now and the odometer now doesn't show up on the dash.

Its a lottery every time you get in it every morning as you never know what's going to go wrong next

All that said she still loves it and it's a minter considering it's 8 years old

I would recommend buying a warranty...

The Mrs has a 54 plate CS John Cooper Works, with 29k miles on clock.
Have to say, its a great car. Go-cart handling with plenty of go, and the SC whine is a wicked sound!
It's fully loaded with chilli, leather, and FF sat-nav.
It does have a couple of glitches, but only costs so far are servicing & tyres. Oh and a fog light, but that was due to a stone!

My (still) wife has had a Cooper from new - September 2001, so its just over 9 years old. Mileage is around 170,000

In that time, other than a couple of recalls, the car has only suffered from 2x alternators dying. This in turn knocks out the power steering.

She has had 2 engines but that is not BMW's fault, rather a lack of attention to oil on her part.

Rear disks and pads x2
Front discs x1

The exhaust was replaced in the summer for the first time.

Other than that, the car works as intended. The rear hangers for the hatch went and needed to be replaced after about 5 years. Wear & tear (wife, sprog and terrier) has made the interior a bit tatty but generally has held up well.

Car is still probably worth £2500, which after 9 years isn't too bad!

170k divided between two engines?

Are these Chrysler engines? Have to confess know nothing about Chrysler engines! Was just surprised when I first heard BMW used them....unless I misheard
