Other companies should not dictate how you trade, nor should they bully you into selling things at agreed prices. Stick to your original game plan.

 

So what your saying is, you were prepared to lose money on the sale of parts to try and secure future sales but other traders on here got the ****?

So what we are looking at is price fixing?

 

So then, is there a 'cartel' where Cosworth or their existing dealers agree to sell at a certain price or only to offer X% amount of discount?

If the above is in someway true then it can easily be classed as 'restrictive practice'.

I believe we are in a free market and it is up to the dealer what they want to sell their products and services for...

 

By offering that kind of a discount first time around, what did you think other traders were gonna be???.. happy????
So why would that bother you now???
Also how could you plan on making a loss on each item???

IMO, there is nothing more to this than you aint a Cosworth dealer and cant come up with the goods direct from Cosworth and will have to go buy from a Legitimate Cosworth Trader like the rest of us mere mortals..

By doing what you have done, do you actually think people will take a chance and give over there hard earned dosh to you in the future???.
Not exactly a great Business plan you through together.

 

I have a meeting booked with carl leeson on the 27th to discuss trade discounts and terms??? he has already sent me price lists???

 

Certain business models do it all the time they call them loss leaders, get you in the store and buying, what they lose on product X they recoup by selling you product Y.

After all to establish a customer base in this financial climate you have to attract price savvy customers and if that means selling at a loss for a period of time, some company's will do it in order to establish themselves.

Stick to you guns as Steven says, f*ck what other companies think!!! Don't think for one second they'd put their prices back up if you complained.

Those that have moaned obviously arent doing too well if they are worried about being out sold by a young lad starting a new business.
