The only arrogance I can see, is the belief that science will answer everything.

Man made God in his own image.

Same with science!

Will science answer everything? Possibly not. Has it answered some things? Loads.

Religion hasn't actually answered anything......

Why not teach Hinduism or Buddhism - Hindu and Buddhist societies seem to have a strong moral code, particularly Buddhists.

Or why can't they just teach a good moral code and then when they are a little older to discuss how different belief systems provide the source of a good moral code.
Going a bit further with what David Lock said, because Christian values are being forgotten, it is fair to quote that as a reason for the breakdown of society.

The desertion of those values, which David Lock rightly says are a good way to teach morality, discipline, respect for others, and the need for a strong society is a loss which will be hard to counteract.

If you think about it, there has to be a believable reason to follow a moral code.

When it comes to the beginning of the world, science has given no definitive answer. It is good at producing theories that might work if they could find the evidence to prove those theories are true.

Where is the difference?

They'll have their religion, but it'll be wrong. Therefore we must go to their planet(s) and "correct" their savage ways and teach them that our God is the one true god and they should worship our god instead.

BTW He loved the harvest festival.

It was half-pagan, half Christian. The whole class wore crowns made of vegetation (very Pagan) and then sang thanks to the Lord at the Church.

Well at least he is getting a broad education

But when we do discover life on other planets, surely they will look just like us as we are all in God's image, AND they will all speak English with American accents, AND we are unlikely to hurt ourselves as any large rocks that might fall on us will be made of polystyrene.*

We will purify non-believers with our holy phasers at the stake, but I fear that this will never happen as Gene Roddenbery was an atheist. Besides, the human race is pretty primative as all this has already happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away......

Why on earth should it. What religion says that there cannot be other worlds as well as our own?

It also doesn't mention who created God either. Does that mean God could have had parents?

Hi Les,

This story is one of the reasons I do not like the Royal Family status.

How is it possible that they would even consider that they had a right to 2% of the WHOLE budget allocated to the WHOLE of the UK to support extraordinary heating bills. Makes me sick.

Of course it was refused but they should never have asked on the beginning.

If they cannot afford to be the Royal Family then they should do what other countries have done - trade down or make it commercially viable. And if they bring in Billions as everyone says then the ability to monetise it should a piece of cake!
