Just tried Chris Knott, who said that they are no longer competitive as the underwriters that they used to use have stopped giving them decebnt quotes.

sorry, copied and pasted from another post but cover most bases!

same for me, MY00 no mods (at the time!), 28 years old, garage at night, 9 years NCB, no points ever, cat 1 etc... just short of a bag o'sand. This was better than Tesco though (£1039 with mandatory tracker which I don't have so would have had to folk out another £300ish), I could only conclude that your postcode makes a very big difference indeed, I phoned them for a qoute with a different name at my girlfriends address but all the same info and got just short of £250 less on the quote, I don't quite understand either as car crime is actually far lower where I live???? Went with Greenlight in the end, charged me £831.00 no mods, just had Eibach springs and a few other bits and bats on the suspension, centre pipe and group N backbox, dump valve, greens panel filter, braided brake thingies and clear side repeaters done at TSL and they charged me an extra £40 for the pleasure, not too bad I thought.

Never been into this Forum before but I'm glad I did.

Big thank you for all the helpful contacts.

Phoned around all the brokers listed and got the cheapest qote from Adrian Flux for my Jeep Grand Cherokee and Mitsubishi Pajero.

Local broker has a policy that they will match and then reduce by 10% any other quote. Unfortunately this is only for Jersey based business.

The crazy thing is that Adrian Flux quoted the same price for the Jeep (just under £500) with the same company so local broker matched it, then knocked off 10%. With the Pajero Adrian Flux were over £100 cheaper.

I saved over £200 thanks to this Forum

I must come here more often.

Me 31yrs old, clean licence,
Other Half 29yrs old, clean licence,

Below are a list of everything my insurance has taken into account!!
Scooby WRX wagon 1994

Magnex sytem with de cat, FSE power boost valve, Gold alloy wheels,
Mileage is 9000 a year, garaged, and I also live in the middle of nowhere......Cat 1 Alarm/Immobiliser.

I'm insured with Norwich union direct, they are very Scooby friendly, and the bloke I spoke to had a '96 Turbo. I am paying the princely sum of £396.86 with £250 excess, and no tracker required.
They definately "quoted me HAPPY"

Tesco

35 years old. Class 1 business use. 12,000 per annum. No points, no claims. Average post code area.

Cat 1 alarm/imm. Tracker (required for theft cover)

MY99, 2000 Turbo. Magnex 6x4 oval CAT back system.

£ 497 fully comp.

Plus about £20 for legal protection and replacement car.

PLUS £ 102 for the exhaust.

Considering I had quotes between £700 and £1300, Tesco were by *far* the best deal.

Hey, I might even shop there ;-)

Its that time of year again:

Me 26
Postcode Southampton, not a bad one
2 years NCB
1 written off car Nov 2001
Car: MY 2001 WRX
Big spoiler, full exhaust, springs
Tracker monitor.

The list:

Bell Direct: 1157
Admiral: 1212
Elephant: 1134
Tesco: 1300(current insurer)
Direct line: 1180(no mods dec)
Nor Union: 1798
Privelege: 1180 (no mods dec)
Axa: No go, 30+
Egg: 1377 (no mods dec)
Adrian Flux: 1800!
Liv Vic: 30+
Lloyds TSB: No go on website
Greenlight: 30+

so it seems you now need to be 30 to get "any quote" the guy at greenlight said the statistics with the impreza are just so bad! yikes

hope this is of some use

MY98 Wagon (UK car) with Scoobysport Rear Box and ITG filter and a Clifford Alarm that's packed up.

I lurv Liv/Victoria - £424 including protected NCD, Business use, and got the missus on it too (she's just turned 31).

I'm 36 which helps I guess and have 9 years NCD, but they're still £220+ cheaper than anyone else I could find. They're not fussed about mods unless you've messed with the engine itself. Didn't care about having an alarm (even if it worked) or whether it was kept in a garage etc.

Soooo happy.

Blimey PRJ, that's a great price!

L&V were £670 for me, so I went with Axa through A-Plan = £630

UK98 saloon, morettes, full Scoobysport system, K&N 57i, extra bonnet scoops to feed K&N, smoked front/side flashers, MY00 4 pot brakes.

I'm 37 with 7 years NCB. Car's garaged at night, in the Midlands.

Going to go with Liverpool Victoria come renewal next month.

They quote £910.00 with 400 excess and didn't even ask for alarm/tracker details!?!

Quote based on MY99 STi5 9yrs prot NC, x2 none fault claims 3yrs ago, no convictions, usual etc etc.

They also get the business for my other car as well, even cheaper than current!

THUMBS UP FOR L/VIC! Nice one!

Well after my trawl around here: http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...=85131&Page=12

Ive finally put my money down. Went with bell direct and declared: exhaust mods, big spoiler, springs and exterior pretty mods ie badges etc - so I feel Ive been fully honest! Added my Dad on, that saved 150 quid which was a bonus, and he probably will use it so I think thats fair too.

I have 2 years 2ncb, average to good postcode, 13k crash 2 years back and an sp50. Age 26

they didnt want to know about my tracker though!! damn it, so I wont be renewing it then, or should I hmm, moral dilema!

price £1200 for 10 months, not too bad seeing as the own fault smash really pinches

have been with Bell Direct b4 and had a hassle free no claims year.

Oddly though, Admiral and Elephant who are the same company - came up with - we cant offer you a quote this time answer, even though Id run a quote a few weeks back. very odd, i have made claims with both??
