As many, I only knew Grant through the fun he brought to this forum. Such a sad loss of what seemed a very genuine and giving person. Heartfelt sympathies to his family.
RIP Tam.

Tam's sad passing has made me think, Scoobynet is only a car bbs but a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into their posts (trawling the internet for pictures of scantily clad ladies that will pass muster by the mods for example....) but they are quite a personal record of how someone was thinking and feeling at the time, possibly more of an insite than phtographs.
What I am getting at is that Tam made a lot of posts, we all have generally and it is easy to search on here for an individuals posts, so potentially in the future for anyone who has died's family it could be quite nice to trawl their posts (depending on the individual and whether or not they think their wife or whatever wont read them and post accordingly) but I was thinking that if my Grandad who died in 1989 had made 15/20ks worth of posts or wrote stuff I would really love to read them now, 21 years later.
So, all that makes me wonder, does all this get backed up as like a lot of stuff, at the time it seems throwaway but after some time has elapsed it becomes more valuable as potentially in the future someone may get some comfort from the contributions, as at some point we all with stop posting.

Doing a quick search it seems to only record a certain amount of posts.
Take Tam's if you search for all posts by him it stops at 2008, he joined in 2006.
So I suppose that may answer the question.

Grant was one of my 'bestest' online friends. I am stunned & devestated that he has gone.
We became friends through SN about 5 or so years ago, and ever since then we have bitched, insulted, supported & simply had fun with each other. I regret never having met him in person, but even though this never happened, I still consider him a best friend.
As Emm has already said, Grant knew that he had this thing waiting to go in his head. He only said to me recently that when it happened it happened. He continued to live & enjoy life, going to the speedway, supporting livingston fc, listening to Radio Caroline, running his own forum to name a few and of course & above all, loving his family.
I really hope Liz & the family will be able to look at this thread at some point, as it shows how much so many people thought of him.
He was an amazing, witty, fabulous, insulting, pervy, honest, open, supportive, hillarious person. He could be maddening but this was just Grant being Grant, and I loved him more for it.
I found out about his passing from friends such as DK1. I only wish i could attend his funeral to pay my respects in person, but am out of the country.
I have posted this on here as I wanted to show how much he meant to me.
Rest in peace Grant. I will miss you deeply, and hope you will enjoy all the angels up in heaven.
Love
Anna or as grant would call me 'BeakerBum'.
xx

Tam's official obituary page
The above link is to Tam's obituary page, in true SNet style I've posted a message from us all that starts with a mistake ("which" instead of "with" ) but I thought some of his other friends may also wish to light a candle/post a message for him. Please (and it's not my place to do this) keep things dignified as this is/will be viewed by all his actual family and friends.

I've linked to the obituary on a couple of other websites Grant used to allow other friends the chance to see it.

A lovely tribute page mate, quite a simple but effective idea and a great place for Liz and the rest of the family to see all the messages that have come from his friends, be they online or real.
I think or hope that the tribute page there and on here will be some solace to the family that he was a great friend to many and he will be sorely missed.

I felt that I was a friend of Grants online even though I have never met him in person we spoke regular on facebook. I was only talking to him a few weeks ago mainly about our "pets" When he took in Nell she became my pet too and I always use to ask him about her etc.
I only found out this morning about his passing and it has deeply deeply saddened me that I have cried most of the morning about it. This has shocked me to the core just how short life is.
I will really miss him as a friend and as a agony aunt about my problems. He was a true friend he made me laugh when things were hard and I will never forget him.
RIP Love I will never forget you and hopefully we will meet one day for that drink we always talked about.
My thoughts are with his family and friends

This is the first time I've been on here for a while and I'm truly saddened by this news.
He certainly was a character and a half and he will certainly be missed. Very sad news indeed.
My thoughts are with his family today.
Rest in peace Grant.
Paul.

Knowing that Grant knew that this would/could happen, but not knowing when; makes this all the sadder, I think.
Imagine how it must feel, as the father of a young family, and knowing that this weakness could fail at any time, and what the outcome of that would be.
I feel sorry for Grant then: and for his wife and children now.
