Women throws cat in bin ..
#62
I'm not a cat fan at all - the lives of lots of local wildlife were probably spared whilst it was trapped in the bin 15 hours.
I can understand cat owners feeling enraged by what the women did, but having a pet which goes out hunting wildlife isnt on IMO. In a way owners are selfish by turning a blind eye to this fact just so they can enjoy the pet themselves.
If cats didnt hunt and roam around everywhere they would be perfect pets tho.

How do you feel about humans and their treatment of other animals? Do you think it is any less bad that we farm animals and kill and eat them and that we are prepared to go out hunting and kill them just for sport. Isn't it part of human makeup that we used to have to hunt to eat before civilisation and the formation of a more modern society?
Had it occurred to you that a cat is also following the instinct to hunt that is part of its original makeup. You cannot blame a cat for following what has been part of its life from the beginning of the breed's existence.
It's only fair to look at both sides.

I concur, if it had been confined to the owner's property then this whole episode could have been avoided. If you value you pets don't let them out in public unattended. No self respecting dog owner would let their dog wander the streets unattended. Even if the dog somehow understood traffic etc. there is still a high chance of it causing an accident. Wonder how many traffic accidents cats cause

not surprising she is apologising profusely she has been found out the evil bitch at her Mother's claims she loves cats, yeah loves seeing them in a wheelie bin! Best punishment for her is to spend 16 hours shut in a wheelie bin in the dark in her own p!ss and ****.
No excuses for the weirdos threatening to kill her though, they need locking up and the key throwing away.

Before commenting any further I need to say I actually don't agree with this woman binning a cat. Whilst I don't like them, that was cruel and not really 'a joke'.
However, getting back to the comments raised about them liking to roam etc. Maybe because I'm not a cat lover I have a problem with this... I try to keep my garden decent and tbh I don't take kindly to cats either pissing or crapping in it or lying in my plant tubs etc.
Many dogs like a bit time outdoors (would be frowned upon for them to be let to roam alone nowadays) yet it is still an issue if someone was to see them crap and the owner wasn't to clean it up, yet cat owners are free from any fine or even responsibility for their cats doing the same thing because 'cats like to roam, it's what they do'.. oh and generally people wouldn't know which cat was the culprit.
Outdoor animals or not, it annoys me that they are free to mess all over. I would never do one any harm as that's not my nature, but it really grinds on me.

Cats are recognised as needing the 'right to roam' and this is accepted under law because they are not regarded the same as dogs and unlike dogs are not governed by the road traffic, highways and dangerous dogs act. Hence if you hit a cat in your car you are not required by law to report it to the police but if you hit a dog you are.

An outdoor cat thats kept in will be a true nightmare! Indoor cats in general have always been indoor and don't know what they are missing.
My own cat has set foot outside a handful of times due to me living in a second floor flat. She's been out on the in-laws lawn as we take her for the weekend to theirs quite often and even then she wasn't overly impressed with the fact the grass was wet or some giant f@cking terradactyl was flying overhead (seagull).
To keep a cat confined to a back garden you would need a run for them which is what I intend to do when I eventually sell my flat!

It would be cruel and unnatural for a cat to be confined indoors. They do need to roam about and they prefer to hunt mice and rats etc rather than birds most of the time anyway. I have seen house cats and they never look all that happy.
You can keep them off your garden by scattering a few of the old fashioned mothballs around the place. They dont like the smell of camphor and you would not notice the smell yourself.
I hope that woman is prosecuted by the RSPCA and gets hammered for it.

Lisa, http://www.cats.org.uk/documents/cat...catsandthelaw/ and have a look on page 4 - Common Law Duty of Care.

That's the full list of reportable collision with animals.
I had a near miss with a sheep sitting in the middle of the road last Friday night, just outside of Bluith Wells. Luckily I saw it and gave it two choice words regarding it's choice to sit in the road - one was "mint" the other "sauce".
Anyway, back to the topic.

Makes me think of the impact the internet is having, say ten years ago, this woman would probably never have been found, maybe videoed and shown to a few people, perhaps recognised and reported but as it is, its been seen by millions of people and generally most people are disgusted or bemused, some are ambivalent but thats a lot of people see this.
Like the tosser who drove through a puddle to drench a load of schoolkids, or the Lorry pushing a Clio anything recorded can end up on the internet and quickly go from local to global.
Makes me wonder what the impact will be, Mary Bale wont be putting cats in bins again I expect, but will it polarise opinions across society with regards to aminal cruelty, specifically the introduction of felines to refuse containers or, never underestimating the stupidity of the public and the power of suggestion, will there be a spate of copycat (pun intended) Kitty in bin incidents ? how would the Kersall massive react to this ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ieo_Zr5crs0
I think we are now right in the throws of a massive change in the media, its liberating as it lets anyone distribute their work and the world decides whether its interesting, not a television company but is it also potentially destructive ?
I propose a sticker to be produced like this for all UK wheelie bins, just to reinforce that its not ok.

Leslie - If you saw how well my cat lives and how much I wish I could change places with her (lazy, rules the roost and gets loved no matter what) you may think a little differently on indoor cats.

Why does she need to get a grip........ Cats are tw@ts of creatures, anti social, do as they please and only go home when they are hungry....... in fact if they get fed elsewhere they don't ever go home, they are feral creatures, they are not pets! and as Lisa said, I dislike cats immensly but I would never cause one harm!
I can't belive this whole story has made it so big..... it's one ****ing cat, one ****ing wheelie bin..... This Story is actually bigger than the MI6 bloke found in a sports bag in his bath.... WTF I think it is society that really needs to get a grip!

Lisa's bought a cat, and she's going to let it roam as it pleases.
Say goodbye to your dogs though, this ****** will see to them.

A cat should always have the possibilities to roam around, it's necessary and part of their instincts and beings. Keeping it strictly in the house is about the same as putting it in the bin. If someone cares so much about their garden by not allowing cats in it, there is something wrong in the their mindset in the first place. I love to watch cats in our garden, anything else would be strange. Watching the cat hunting for butterflys is amazing. So please go on with your sterilisation of your little world around you, and I tell you that it will sooner or later end in a biological nightmare. Nature is for everyone!
